In my experience, natural sunlight is the most effective, but it requires daily exposure for several months.

Fish oil capsules or flax seed oil capsules yield significant itch reduction while cortisone ointment reduces inflammation. I did not discern any difference in effect between the two types of oil at a dosage of 1 capsule per day.

No Crack Cream, rich in lanolin & bee's wax gives good relief, but is very expensive. Queen Helene's Cocoa Butter Cream, available at Walmart, is only slightly less effective and much less expensive.

I have not tried feeding the fish, but I can testify to the benefits of a friendly, salt loving dog after a summer bike ride. Unfortunately, the lab/chow next door moved away, and two shizu moved in; they can't reach the worst lesions.

Thank you Dajjal - I seldom get comments like yours with so many extra tips!

Yes, the sunlight exposure need to be daily and constant. I would take Flax Seed Oil or Fish Oil over cortisone ointment because the ointment does not guarantee no relapse. And also I might as well treat from within.

Bees' Wax!! Cocoa Butter Cream!! Dajjal you are so knowledgeable in alternative treatments - I highly recommend you to blog in Health category! :0)

I've also heard good things about healthy dogs' saliva - they have the good bacteria that can protect cuts against inflammation and more.

How's your lesions now Dajjal? Any improvement?

Your other alternative is to get a TALLER dog! heh heh

Thanx for the tips. Do you know of any places in the U.S where one could get the products. My grandson has psoriasis and any natural products that he could use would be greatly appreciated

I got into a wreck late in July, so I was off the roads for the rest of the season with a broken maleolus and cellulitis. I just got the bike back on the road this week because getting parts was difficult.

At present the lesions are near maximum extent and intensity but the itching is moderately under control. When the weather allows riding shirtless, the progress will be slow.

I can't afford a dog, and have no control over what kind of mutt my neighbors get.

I am sorry for the late reply FNE - there are many natural and organic products for skincare, but much more difficult to find one for psoriasis that is USDA-certified and also certified by Skal International or Ecocert International.

Are you interested in the handheld therapy lamp, skincare oil or dead sea mud? All these are effective to varying degrees. Using any one therapy consistently may give results and I believe psoriasis sufferers like me will one day realise a relapse does not have to happen.

Echinacea and Anise boost a body's immunity but is not psoriasis-specific.

There are many natural and organic products for skincare, but much more difficult to find one for psoriasis that is USDA-certified and also certified by Skal International or Ecocert International.

I will update on this once I find more info. Meanwhile, there is nothing to stop you from getting your supply of natural sunlight and natural organic whole foods (eat them as well as use them externally).

Carole has many good entries for using natural products for skincare: http://www.bloggersbase.com/users/CaroleParker

#7. Apple Cider Vinegar, Evening Primrose oil and Tea Tree oil (also good for acne) are also natural alternatives to curing psoriasis.

I meant these for applying directly to psoriasis lesions, but consuming it will also do the body good.

There's a saying,"If it is something you won't put in your mouth and tummy, don't put on your skin."

My dear friend, Pat, suffered from psoriosis. She received UV treatments that helped her tremendously. She received them in the office next door to my OB/GYN so we made our appointments at the same time. Had she not passed from colon cancer 2 years ago I would pass on your alternative suggestions. Some moms were posting about this recently and I will pass this info on. Thank you for your endless hours of research and desire to share with others. :)
