I try to keep my Twitter numbers balanced. I actually look at every follower to determine if they have anything in common or appear interesting. I think Guy is the model everyone should follow, even those Rockstars.

@CharityHisle

I follow people that are interesting, and drop those that spam. There is one guy that pushes people to his site to play hangman, he re-sends that one post almost every day and I decided that the next time I see the post in my side he gets dropped. Other than that I am following about 25% more than follow me.
Not a star, not a spammer, just an average person on twitter.

I have learned that it is best to stick to people who are tweeting about things you are really interested in. I followed a lot of people in the beginning, but a good chunk of them are either spammers or writing about things I don't really care about. I didn't know about tweetdeck though, I will have to check it out. I don't want to become a twitter snob.

I realize I'm a bit late lol but hey I just found this site today! So, I'm early!

I find the champ's can also be spammers sometimes (not always) - but that might have more to do with all the new auto follow apps that have been popping up.

Ditto. I look over every follow request first and decide whether we have enough in common, and they're not just spamming and/or a marketing ploy, and try to keep my ratio balanced.

Interesting. I think we can use your standard to every social networking that have follow and follower thing :) I think I'll follow someone just if we have same interest, not just following people. It's ridiculous just following people around :))
