As soon as you are discovered, which could be as many as 5 years later, you get some letters and phone calls, and then you work out a payment plan with the nice people, which includes interest and penalties. And that's it! That's exactly what happened to all those people you mentioned.<br /><br />Oh, and if you think you're going to pay as soon as you get your stimulus check, you can count on just getting a letter stating "We have used your stimulus check to pay part of your unpaid taxes." I know this personally.
