Thank you again Jonathan! This is another entry that sets me thinking! Up to now, I don't have an image of Him. Even the image of Jesus to say He's God doesn't fit with me. But this is what I feel about God (just sharing my thoughts!):

God is a destroyer as well as the Compassionate one. Without destroying, there will be no renewal of life. I truly believe Tsunamis had in the past, forced minerals from the deepest of the Earth. Yes, it's ironic people and animals die just so the Earth's soil gets its nutrients, which then feed animals and humans.

I can't see Him as Wrathful but it's similiar to raising children. What do parents do when children disobey?

The same issue - what does God do when we disobey? HE will let you have things your way but you will have to bear the consequences. Just like how you'd bear the fruits of your labour. You reap what you sow.

Universal Spirit - HE's everywhere and HE is all-knowing. Nothing escapes HIS eyes.

"Is promoting your preferred characterization of God more important than compassion and acceptance of diversity?"

(Excellent point and you've described it so well. Children often sees things we adults don't!) My answer is NO but you would have some of life's experiences and get closer to saying I KNOW GOD better than I know Kylie Minoque (I like her btw)! :)
