Great explaination, anyone looking to figure out the difference should read this post. I like to just write for the reader and hope that the engines pick it up sooner or later. But I know this isn't a quick way to the top.

Here is what I do. And it seems to work pretty good. The SEO I do for each post is really simple, I make sure that my Title has the key term I am looking for, and then I make sure that the first H1 tag is also a key term.

That's it. I did a post a few days ago about the Obama Deception and now I have been getting at least 40 searches a day for that term.

I must admit I write for the reader -- for me there is little reason to do otherwise. But I do give consideration to the SEOs and if I am writing about a hot topic, I try to ensure that the buzz words are in there. For me, writing is a joyful experience --- a form of entertainment. I find it impossible to write about things I'm bored with. So if the act of writing becomes too constrained by rules and regs, I will simply quit doing it. Thus, I write for my readers. The ones who like it return. New ones drift in on a daily basis --- some stay; some don't. That's life.

Thanks everyone for your comments, everyone seems to have their own opinions on this and I feel it is important that everyone knows the differences and advantages of both at the end of the day though it depends on many other factors. Personally I enjoy just writing for my readers however when it comes to the title and other parts of the article I do consider the optimisation processes of SEO and I believe everyone should.
