There is no place for superstition, but there is a place for Providence. Why should the "chosen people" regularly break glass, even in a moment of joy? And why in a joint press conference with the Vice President of America Joe Biden, did the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu say this, when he found the glass on gift certificate had broken, Perhaps the Power of the Universe knew Biden had forgotten something, as he was reminded of it again. At a later tour of Israel's Holocaust memorial museum, Yad Vashem, the lights in the "Hall of Remembrance" unexpectedly went out as a prayer for those killed was chanted, catching Biden's security detail by surprise. One Biden aide described the moment as "off-putting" but others said it worked well given the mournful context. In the darkness, the only light in the cavernous room came eerily from the eternal flame reflecting off the ceiling.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp It was the second case of remembering a time of broken glass. The third happened immediately after when Biden heard that approval new housing at Ramat Shlomo |

Well, I didn't get on the BBC show, but I thought I would do a post telling you what I told them when they called me this afternoon, and what I would have said had I gotten onto the show.
It was never correct to say that America (sorry Canadians for referring to 'America' and not to the US) had 'power' over Israel in the sense that one normally conceives of power. America never had the ability to 'deliver' Israel although the Arab world always thought that they did. And given that Israel is a democracy, albeit an imperfect one, it's unlikely that America ever will have power over Israel.
What America did have was the ability to influence Israel. It was able to persuade Israel to act in ways that were in both America's and Israel's self-interest. Sometimes, American influence was sufficient to persuade Israel to act in ways that were clearly in America's self-interest, but less clearly in Israel's self-interest (see, for example, Israel's not responding to Iraqi scud missiles during the First Gulf War).

Obama: “I’m from the government, and I am here to help you!”
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet **********
The Obama Regime has set it sites on America’s Middle Class. And it has scared the bejesus out of them! You can almost hear the cries emanating from the Middle Class… “Please, Mr. President, STOP helping us!!!”
But that is not going to happen until Americans isolate Obama in the White House by ousting his congressional supporters in the Mid-Term Election this coming November.
The so-called Middle Class Task Force, made up of White House flunkies and chaired by Vice-President Joe Biden, have been searching diligently in the round about to find issues, any issues, the American Middle Class has been wrestling with and then promise to help solve those issues.
I have to ask, how connected to the American public is the President when he has to appoint a task force |

 American First, Last, and Always!
A Citizen of the World, NOT!
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
**************************
A recent commenter on one of my articles took me to task for not realizing that I am a citizen of the world FIRST -- and a citizen of America SECOND!
How wrong he is! If you subscribe to world citizenship first, then you, too are wrong.
My allegiance is to America. I don’t give a rat’s behind what the remainder of the countries on this globe does. It is none of my concern -- right up to the point they insist on making trouble for America. It is then that we must send the “United States WORLD Police Force” to clean up the mess the offending country, or countries, has made. I sometimes think our US Navy aircraft carriers should be painted black and white as are our police cruisers. Maybe we could install a gigantic blue flashing light on the carrier’s tallest radio mast. Impressive, what?

USA – Corporations Can Influence the Elections, Candidates – Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission
Reality Views by sm -
The judgment given by the supreme court of USA opens gates for the corporations to spend unlimited money and influence elections, and thereafter get benefits, discounts and creation of laws which are favorable to the corporations.
We as Indians know what money is doing in India, Indian elections and our Indian corporations.
In future same will happen in America as Supreme Court removed all restrictions,
Before this judgment in America there was a kind of firewall which prohibited direct contact of corporations with elections.

The UN IS COMING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS, AMERICA.
OBAMA LEADS THE UN GUNGRABBER PACK!
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
********************************************
Back in October of 2009, the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, publicly announced that the US WOULD support UN negotiations of an Arms Trade Treaty to regulate international gun trafficking. The Bush administration, you may remember, and, notably, former Permanent U.S. Representative to the United Nations, John Bolton, opposed negotiations of this treaty for years.
Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton has said: "Conventional arms transfers are a crucial national security concern for the United States, and we have always supported effective action to control the international transfer of arms. The United States is prepared to work hard for a strong international standard in this area."

Media news is to be treated in the same way as a tale told by a stranger.
What are the motives, have they 'stretched' the truth to gain our ear, to shock perhaps? Only after 2 or 3 reliable witnesses confirm it, does it become knowledge. We may think that with pictures there is no chance of deception, but like in a movie, just beyond the camera's view the scene could be totally different. What the reporters show may be the story they want to spin.
And Haiti reporting might be loaded with spin. Many people will give of what little they have and hope it does good. It is likely, if we are lucky perhaps 40 cents in the dollar will make it to the people. Some charities are more about their own structure than about the cause, and feed on disaster, but there are some loaded with dedicated volunteers.
But the spin and political motives of the "aggressive" mobilisation of International aid to Haiti raises some questions.
