 American First, Last, and Always!
A Citizen of the World, NOT!
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
**************************
A recent commenter on one of my articles took me to task for not realizing that I am a citizen of the world FIRST -- and a citizen of America SECOND!
How wrong he is! If you subscribe to world citizenship first, then you, too are wrong.
My allegiance is to America. I don’t give a rat’s behind what the remainder of the countries on this globe does. It is none of my concern -- right up to the point they insist on making trouble for America. It is then that we must send the “United States WORLD Police Force” to clean up the mess the offending country, or countries, has made. I sometimes think our US Navy aircraft carriers should be painted black and white as are our police cruisers. Maybe we could install a gigantic blue flashing light on the carrier’s tallest radio mast. Impressive, what?

I was naïve. I have to admit that before I can accept what follows. I was among those who believed that, while riddled with incompetent fools and a few truly bad apples, our government was essentially operating in an honorable fashion. I was not naïve enough to believe that corruption was not a daily occurrence in Washington but I always shied away from conspiracy theorists and their half baked notions. In simpler terms; I did not see a systemic and far reaching plot to destroy this nation brewing behind every piece of bad legislation. I no longer hold that belief.
I came across the Cloward-Piven doctrine and the pieces fit so well that I could no longer assume that our nation’s current situation was precipitated by simple incompetence and greed. I first heard of the concept while watching a Glenn Beck clip on Fox News. Glenn suggested that his audience research the subject. I did and I was astonished.
Glenn was explaining that the government needed to cut up their credit cards and part of his explanation lead the Cloward-Piven concept. I then researched the subject and located several references on the web.

Where did the “Silent Majority” go??? A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet ************************* During the decade of the seventies the “Silent Majority” was often spoken of in the press. Prominent politicians, including the President, openly sought their support. Well, where did they go?
Oh, they’re still here… and just as powerful as before. You see them everyday. They’re all around you. They are the folks you see at parties who stand around the edges of a group discussing politics. They rarely have any input into the discussion… they just absorb it. They’re the folks who do not sit in on the coffee klatch discussion on politics and world affairs.
They’re the people who go to church, nearly every Sunday, and raise their children to be respectful of others and live useful, productive lives. They send their kids to church supported universities and colleges for a good education, rather than an indoctrination in the ways of the political left.

America Seen as Weak in Treatment of Terrorists
Civilian Trials Provide Soapboxes for Terrorists. A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet ************************************* So now we are going to try the terrorists in civilian federal trials in New York City, just blocks away from the site of the former World Trade Center Twin Towers, where 3,000 innocents were murdered. Can you possible see how this move by the Obama Regime makes the US appear weak, indecisive, and just plain DUMB to our enemies?
The terrorists had already been charged in military courts. Now the government is snatching them out of the hands of the one judicial system in America where justice for their heinous acts was certain. Instead they will be provided with a soapbox upon which to preach their hatred of America to their acolytes around the world.

“The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something. It's as simple as that. A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today. The true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer.”
Nolan Bushnell
They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.
Edgar Allan Poe, "Eleonora"
"Some men see things as they are and say 'why'? Others dream things that never were and say 'why not'?"
~ George Bernard Shaw
I think we dream so we don't have to be apart so long. If we're in each other's dreams, we can play together all night. ~Bill Watterson, Calvin & Hobbes~

In several places, including Bloomberg which I read last, there have been discussions on the price of gold going up. Supposedly according to most fundamental, and some market-technical, models, as commonly described, gold should be at its ceiling, but appears to be, at least temporarily as Bloomberg's Monday news report suggested, going up.
The thousand-dollar-an-ounce benchmark price is more of a generalized goal line rather than specific target. Supposedly the fundamental factors of retail and industrial demand, in relation to the current stocks and anticipated production should balance out at a price below the line. If gold goes above it, then it would only be a rise of short duration this common wisdom relates.

I've decided that in order to culturally fit in with today's America, I need to be hyphenated.
No, that's not some bizarre freak body modification or piercing.
It's what you do when you go from being an "American" to being a something-American.
This is the sign that you're special part of an elite club of Americans who're oppressed, unappreciated, or somehow unique. Usually for having a certain skin color, for something your great-great-great-great-great grandparents suffered through, or because you don't like America in general and want to dissociate yourself from it.
I'm not sure which of those categories I fall into, so I'm going to have to analyze the situation.
Caucasian-American
The problem here is that too many publik skewl graduates will spell that wrong. Next thing you know, I'm in porno flicks. My wife would not approve of that. Lame.
