Who's the biggest Israel hater in the White House?

World AffairsPolitics & Opinions

It seems that in the Obama White House, the boss may not be the biggest Israel hater. That title may well belong to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (Hat Tip: Shy Guy).
In his book American Evita, Christopher Anderson writes.
At a time when elements of the American Left embraced the Palestinian cause and condemned Israel, Hillary was telling friends that she was "sympathetic" to the terrorist organization and admired its flamboyant leader, Yasser Arafat. When Arafat made his famous appearance before the UN General Assembly in November 1974 wearing his revolutionary uniform and his holster on his hip, Bill "was outraged like everybody else," said a Yale Law School classmate. But not Hillary, who tried to convince Bill that Arafat was a "freedom fighter" trying to free his people from their Israeli "oppressors." (1)
Of course Hillary's feelings about the PLO and Israel are only one aspect of her character, often a person's true nature is more closely revealed in a more intimate setting. In an early showcase of Hillary's diplomatic skills Christopher Anderson relates an experience that she and her future husband had during a trip to Arkansas in 1973.

Amanda Graystone sees dead people!

Greetings.

Jewish date:  2 Nisan 5770 (Parashath Wayyiqra’).

Today’s holidays:  St. Patrick’s Day (Roman Catholicism), Feast Day of the Magi: Dionysus (Thelema).

Worthy causes of the day:  “DemocracyForAmerica.com » Speaker Pelosi: The Public Option is in your hands”, “Take Action: TrueMajority.org”, “Health Insurance Reform: Finish the Job | Senator Harry Reid, Nevada - HarryReid.com”, and “Union of Concerned Scientists:”.

Topic 1:  The latest episode of Caprica:  “The Imperfections of Memory”.  Most of the theology in this episode deals with Amanda Graystone.  Early on Amanda gets upset at an attempt to move a sidewalk memorial to the victims of the train bombing.  She also sees her dead brother at the site of the memorial.  In fact, she admits to Sister Clarice (who is trying to charm further information out of her), she has seen him ever since he died in a car accident

Is Steny Hoyer Right? People Don’t Care about Process?

World AffairsPolitics & Opinions

Is the process used in Congress to pass a law something people care about? Steny Hoyer doesn’t think so.

As has been publicized, supposedly against the wishes of Washington Democratic leaders, the House is considering using a convoluted and rather obviously unconstitutional plan referred to as the “Slaughter Rule.” It is named after Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY), who proposed using it to approve the Senate health care bill (“deem it passed”) without voting on it. Only the desired changes would be voted on, then sent to the Senate.

As if “reconciliation” weren’t bad enough, this “Slaughter Rule” is infuriating to opponents of the bill, which would be a sizable majority of American likely voters, and the Republicans in Congress. There has been and will be a loud outpouring of righteous indignation over the cynical and possibly illegal methods being used. To the extent that citizens are paying attention, they largely oppose the reprehensible methods used and to be used in this sorry perversion of the normal process.

Running Out of Time To Deal with Budget Deficits

March 14, 2010

In the economic dream world of President Barack Obama and his advisors and congressional allies, increasing spending in the trillions of dollars and debt into the stratosphere seem to be simply amusing sidelights to a (they hope) unstoppable program to establish a fascist-socialist political and social structure in the United States. Obama and his spokesmen make it sound like everything is perfectly reasonable and under control. The economy, they assure us, has been pulled back successfully from the brink of the abyss.

Many trillions of dollars in present and future spending (over the next decade), they tell us, will alleviate a lot of suffering and make health insurance and health care readily available at lower cost and without such annoying restrictions as lifetime dollar limits and refusal to cover pre-existing conditions.

I’ve written quite often on the “health care reform” proposals, and also some on cap and trade. These are major parts of Obama’s grand program.

RINO's may ruin November Elections.

World AffairsPolitics & Opinions

The November elections could see the Republicans taking back control in Washington, but I now have my doubts that it will be for the better. In the last few months many Republicans have been showing their true colors and frankly there are far to many RINO's in Washington for my taste.

While it's clear the Republican's are against Obama's ridiculous health care proposal, some are just too soft in their fight against the onslaught of Socialist policies that are permeating the floor of the House and Senate.

Worse still are Republican leaders like Michael Steele and Mitch McConnell who, instead of defending their party are now spending most of their time apologizing for it. The "Evil Empire" cartoon that cropped up recently is a prime example.

There was nothing about this that was beyond the normal satire you can find in any local newspaper or the Washington Post, or the New York times, etc. Yet, because of it's attachment to an organized Republican event, the Democrats and the media jumped all over it.

It was barely newsworthy, yet it continues to make it's rounds on the internet as leftist bloggers and the MSM have a field day with this overblown bit of cartoon humor.

Steele and McConnell had a real opportunity to state the facts and play down this nonsensical attack by the left. They chose instead to apologize and even criticize their party members for this innocuous bit of political satire.

These Benefits Will Hurt

What would “Health Care Reform” do for employment?
1. New federal payroll taxes. These taxes are paid partly by employers and partly by employees – at least in theory. They are all paid out of money earned by employees. They all increase the cost of employing people, thus are a disincentive to hiring. Taxes on “higher income earners” hurt all workers, through job losses or lower pay.

2. New state taxes. States will have to deal with unfunded mandates to handle greatly increased Medicaid enrollment. The federal government will pay a lot of this, but by no means all (except maybe in Nebraska?)

3. Employer penalties for not providing insurance coverage. Diana Furchtgott-Roth explains:

There are certain times when in the face of positive change and impending victory, someone will step up to the plate who is so inept, so ignorant in his actions as to be the undoing of all that has been achieved. One such idiot would be Mitch McConnell. Here is a recent article about McConnell concerning his disenchantment with his own party.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Senate's top Republican says he didn't like a recent GOP appeal to party donors that was based on stoking fear and negative feelings toward President Barack Obama and other Democrats.Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky says he doesn't understand why anyone thought such an appeal would help the GOP.

The pitch last month to Republican fundraisers included a direct call to exploit "extreme negative feelings" toward Democrats. In the presentation, Obama was depicted as "The Joker" and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as Cruella De Vil.

McConnell tells ABC's "This Week" that it's up to the Republican National Committee to hold someone responsible for the controversial appeal. He says, "I don't like it and I don't know anybody who does."
