Greeting everybody! We hope you have had a wonderful holiday season with all your loved ones. Let us join in wishing you all a happy new year – may it be so much more successful and happy than the last and may all your wishes come true.
In this issue we’ll present two of our featured bloggers, so let’s get right to it: |
|
| Featured User of the Month |
AdviceMaven has been an active member of BloggersBase since last June. She introduces herself as a work from home mom and owner of the website LuvemOrleavem.com. She blogs about all aspects of relationships from dating, marriage, divorce and everything in between.
Here’s a short interview we’ve conducted with her: | Q: | As such successful dispenser of love and relationship advice, what advice would you give fellow bloggers? | | A: | The main tip that I would give bloggers is to decide what tone your blog will have and stick with it. You may decide to be funny, serious, sarcastic and some other distinctive voice, but it's important for your blog to have a "personality." This helps readers to get to know you and gives them an idea of what to expect every time they visit your blog. | | Q: | How do you approach the process of creating a post? Do you do any research, and if so, where? How do you choose your subject? Is it personal experience? | | A: | I do a fair amount of research for my blogs. I often poll my readers on various topics and ask them to share their stories. When I do large amounts of research I often head to the library because it offers me more resources over just using the Internet.
Choosing a topic is often the hardest part, but I am fortunate to have an advice section on my website that serves as a constant source of inspiration. I also use personal experiences from other couples that I know, but I rarely get into too many details about my own marriage in my writing. I think that it is important to avoid getting into too many details about your own relationship, unless your blog is primarily a personal blog. | | Q: | What does a quality post consists of, in your eyes? How do you approach the process of creating one? | | A: | A quality post consists of a topic that you can add a unique perspective to and should have at least three points of discussion for that topic. Sometimes I think that I have the perfect topic but if I only have one point of discussion for it, then I know I need to do more research or find another topic. | | Q: | What is the feature or aspect that you like the most about BloggersBase in general and about the sponsored Love and Relationship blog in particular? | | A: | My favorite thing about Bloggersbase is all the wonderful bloggers that I have gotten to meet. I have also gained many readers and much quality traffic from Bloggersbase since the readers that click over to my site already have an interest in relationship topics. The sponsored love and relationship posts are a great way to keep track of the most popular relationship topics across the web. |
Thank you so much, AdviceMaven for sharing this with us. As it happens, she has also published a review about BloggersBase on her own blog, which you can see in our “BloggersBase on the Web” section.

Our second featured user of the month is mohkim, who has been with BloggersBase since September. He is a professional blogger, maintains his own technology blog called StartupMeme and even wrote an eBook.
We’ve asked him a few questions about blogging and his experiences on BloggersBase. Hope you enjoy his answers: | Q: | How do you approach the process of creating a post? Do you do any research, and if so, where? How do you choose your subject? How do you know you've created a quality post? | | A: | There are numerous processes, I usually go about reading news online, following tweets, what friends around have to say and then try to gist them up in one topic. Given that my focus is on Facebook, the primary concern is to link all that I read and find with the social network. However before I ever begin writing I make sure it’s informative enough for readers with my personal opinion and is not long enough to be a burden on readers. Which at times is a bit problematic, I mean all the facts you have to push after the research bit and at the same time maintaining the tone of the post.
The research is based primarily on user feedback on certain news and reading related blogs, news sites, meaning that there is more reading and comparatively lesser writing involved. Again the reading, conversing with people across my social network is how I select my topic. If I were to put it in pointers the whole method of writing a post would go:
I. Reading
II. Conversing with my network
III. Research from other related sources [blogs, forums]
IV. Punch the keys on my keyboard and link
The quality of post is what matters the most, so I am pretty careful while I write, more often dictating myself word by word to ensure it is sensible enough. The final quality check comes when I am sure all facts I needed to put have been mentioned and there are no typos. | | Q: | What is the feature or aspect that you like the most about BloggersBase? | | A: | About BloggersBase and what I like most about it, there is actually quite a lot I like. However I will not prolong it like I did with my previous answer and say on that it has got a very active community that is constantly interacting with each other. The second is perhaps the whole platform it has provided us bloggers with. When you talk about BloggersBase you are sure that it’s not just a geek or a poet sharing their work, but a mix of various categories and topics all under one name.
Other than that it gives me a chance to share my opinions to a wider audience, although I do write for my own blog at http://startupmeme.com but being a part of BloggersBase makes me feel that I am engaging more with its diverse community. Added to it are the much useful social media aspects; which make BloggersBase even more useful for me as a blogger. | | Q: | What influenced you to start blogging? And do you incorporate it in your personal and professional life? | | A: | I had been in love with writing and sharing [you can get my eBook here] what I write with everyone. Main stream media was too big to get in to and it turned out to be the major reason why I began blogging. However the influence factor was perhaps to share my opinion, thoughts with those around me.
Blogging is a very Real part of me and you will see me constantly talking about things I read and write online, social networks, news, etc. It is so much of a part of me that I encourage others to step in and share their thoughts and wisdom with everyone around. I mean why not be a part of a broadcast of broadcasts. | | Q: | What feature do you feel that is missing from BloggersBase? | | A: | I think it works fine enough for me the way it is. Though I would like a much better placement for ads, at times they just misalign the entire content which makes it really difficult to carry on reading. The images at some time get thrown scattered and the text is jumbled with the image and the ad.
BloggersBase doesn’t really miss out anything, except for all the bloggers and those aspiring to be one! |
