The Most USED Drug in the World Part 2

LifestyleHealth, Sports & Fitness

This blog enty is continued from Part One.     Scientists found conflicting results regarding caffeine enhancing performance of athletes.  In one study, it says that if you are a regular coffee-drinker who does not drink more than a cup of coffee a day, going caffeine-free a few days before an event may actually enhance performance.  In another study, it says that caffeine taken right before an event boosts, athletes' performance greatly.

Another problem is that caffeine can dehydrate you because it is a diuretic (forces you to urinate more). [If you've read claims that said otherwise, those were based on erroneous studies!]

Cuppa coffee  Caffeine with Alcohol

Caffeine is a stimulant, whereas alcohol is a depressant - complete opposites. This means that caffeine does not negate the effects of alcohol. When you've drank such a cmobo, your reaction time and judgment are still impaired, and makes a deadly recipe for vehicle accidents.

The Most USED Drug in the World Part 1

Some months back, I asked a BB fellow-blogger and friend, CaroleParker, my "5th-grader kiddo" question.  Believe me, up to now, the question still sounds pretty "wierd" and sorta silly to me!   And then my little monster (my grandnephew) asked me the same thing a few days ago.  The question was:  Is there any difference between chocolate milk powder and coffee powder (for use as beauty masks)?

Coffee or tea?      Also add in another brand of "health drink" MILO (it contains artificial sugar, sucrose, by the way) and there you will have a brand new question:
What's the difference among these 3: coffee, chocolate drink and tea?

Hundreds of millions of people start their days with a cuppa coffee or Ceylon tea  or chocolate milk or yerba matte or cafe latte or kola nut chewables - each and every day. And still, many people do not know much of what they are drinking (I am one of them!)

Wednesday’s 35mpg Fuel Economy Standards Debunked

NatureEnvironment

In a widely publicized and loudly proclaimed press conference on Wednesday, President Obama and leaders from the environmental, automotive, and governmental sectors came together in the Rose Garden.  The universal proclamation from the event was that a new agreement of epic proportions regarding automotive efficiency standards in the U.S. had been reached.  Amazingly, both environmentalists and the automotive industry both wholeheartedly agreed with the proposal to raise fuel standards.

"35mpg the New Standard by 2016," screamed headlines.

So why the unilateral support for the new standards?  Traditionally, environmentalists have screamed that it's "not enough" and automakers have bellowed "it's not realistic."  So what's changed this time around?

Cafe owner thrives with no-pricing policy

no_price_cafeI hang out at a local café (you may have noticed I use many imaginative dialogues at the beginning of posts and they’re almost always in a café). I also do some of my own work at the café plus volunteering a little marketing and promotion—basically, I like the place.

However, this creeping, crawling economic downturn (aka recession or crunch) hit the owner of Java Street Café  pretty hard. I’ve spent hours talking business with him and watched as a bright and friendly man became progressively morose and extremely exhausted (when a business has hard times, paying employees becomes a problem and the owner has to not only run the business but literally Work  it).

Months went by, things getting worse, while the owner, Sam, in spite of the grueling conditions, continued  to try various ideas to attract customers…

Finally, last week, an idea he’d been experimenting with became a what-the-hell—”I can’t lose more than I already have”—Decision:

Take All The Prices Off The Menu—let people pay whatever they  feel is a Fair Price!

Sam had his back against the wall, he was willing to try just about anything, and he “happened” to choose and made a commitment to act  on what could seem like a very crazy idea…

That was last week…

Since then, he’s been interviewed on CNN

Art Deco Cafe’ Imperial in Prague

We are having a great time in Prague.  There is so much to see and do.  We are especially enjoying coffee breaks in the remnants of the classic cafe' society of a by gone age, such as Cafe' Louve and Cafe' Slavia.

Today's location tops them all.  It is the Art Deco Cafe' Imperial at the corner of Na Porlici and Zlatnicka.  By the way it is a short walk to many examples of Art Deco and Cubist architecture and art.

The decor was fantastic, the service exemplary, the food and drink very good and the prices reasonable. What more can I say! See for your self on their entertaining web site that includes a virtual tour of the cafe and the rest of the hotel. Imperial Home Page
