Little-Known Secret to Saving Fuel - Does Not Involve Toyota Prius

OffbeatFinds from the Web

By Manuel Carrillo III

The Toyota Prius is like Prozac. There’s the push for consumers to purchase “greener” cars these days. They are the “in thing” right now.

For a time Prozac was the “in thing” for depression (and other forms of mania), but antidepressants are not always the best remedy for mental health issues.

Prozac can really help people, but it can also spur life-threatening addiction. It can really leave the brain hanging out to dry … it can really fuck shit up!

According to a study mentioned in the programme Top Gear, in the long-term, a Prius kicks the environment’s ass harder than a Land Rover Discovery. Bet you didn’t think the Prius could fuck shit up, could you?

Well, it’s true – the Toyota Prius is not the best remedy for decreasing your carbon footprint. Kind of depressing, huh? Don’t worry; you won’t need a Xanax after reading this.

But it makes me wonder why I see bumper stickers on Priuses saying, “Recycle, Reduce, Reuse” and, “Plants and animals disappear to make room for your fat ass.”

With all the environmentally harmful materials it takes to nail together a Prius, shouldn’t those bumper stickers be saying, “Nuke the Whales”?

Dragon backs £100M bid for Small Business

Over here in the UK we have a program shown on television from time to time in a series on the BBC- called Dragon's Den.

The essence of this show is that budding entrpreneurs pitch their business idea to five "Dragons" - well known, successful entrepreneurs here who have "made it".

Essentially, the Dragons collectively discuss the pitch, and either make an offer of the cash requested, for equity, or don't.  It's certainly entertaining, if unlike any financing pitch you've ever made before.

You can find out more here.

In yesterdays' news, it was reported that one of the Dragons - Theo Paphitis - is backing a new campaign launched by the Carbon Trust - a UK governement initiative aimed at getting business to reduce its carbon footprint.  This campaign is a drive to provide up to £100M GBP of interest free loans to UK small business.

A solution to Global Warming.

I have the answer. Really I do. We could cut our carbon emissions to almost nothing. All we have to do is kill off fat people, blowhards and anyone with irritable bowel syndrome.

Stay with me here, I will elaborate. When we breath we take in oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide, a fact often overlooked by the Media. The world is simply overrun with humans exhaling carbon dioxide as if the environment was indestructible. What nerve don't they know what they are doing to the planet.

I would also propose that we eliminate the wasteful among us. It's simple, anyone who spends a great deal of time talking, exercising or eating should be removed. Each of these activities produces harmful effect for the environment. Talking and exercising produce excessive C02.

Maybe we need a cap and trade system for the lot of them. If you want to excercise you can buy credits from lazy slobs. You want to run your mouth, buy credits from recluses and mimes. You want to eat a ton buy your credits from the anorexic. It's all very simple.

Where has common sense gone in America?

World AffairsPolitics & Opinions

This coal-fired power plant is one of some 600 across the United States that together provide half of the country's electricity — and much of its greenhouse gas emissions.

Where has common sense gone in America? Every day new science and empirical evidence appear that dispute the claims made by global warming alarmists and yet the assault continues on our common sense. Even in the face of a global cool down we are told to deny our senses, common sense included, and accept a fact not in evidence.

This Msnbc article http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30264214 is proof positive that Obama administration polices have no basis in substantive fact but are in fact the antithesis of common sense.

WASHINGTON - Having received White House backing, the Environmental Protection Agency declared Friday that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases are a significant threat to human health and thus will be listed as pollutants under the Clean Air Act — a policy the Bush administration rejected.
