Yesterday, along with my normal blog spam I clear out daily, I found one that stood out. Instead of the script that was being used actually formatting the spam as it was intended, it dumped the whole spam template as a comment on one of my blog posts. {hi|hello|howdy|greetings|gooday} there, i just {stumbled|came across|discovered|found|saw} your {blog|website|site|web portal} via {google|yahoo|bing}, and i must say that you write {exceptionally|pretty|interestingly|awesomely} {well|good} on your {blog|website|site|web portal}. i am really {impressed|taken|moved|motivated|struck} by the {way|mode|method} that you write, and the {content|message|subject} is {superb|good|great|quality|excellent}. {anyway|anyhow|anyways|in any event|in any case}, i would also like to know whether you would like to exchange links with my {blog|website|site|web portal}? i will be more than {happy|willing} to reciprocate and {put|enter|insert|drop} your link off in the {link exchange area|blogroll|link section}. {waiting|looking|anticipating} for your {reply|answer|response|respond}, thanks and {cheers|have a great day|enjoy your day|gooday}!

We all love comments. It's easy to start a blog but it's just much more fun to continue a blog when you get some feedback. I have a Danish blog that I don't update anymore and yet on one entry, the comments keep flooding in. I wrote a few lines about Facebook's Pet Society and then one person commented, then another and in practically no time there was a whole little message board formed there. Today I noticed it's up to 550 comments on that one entry! I am not even taking part in it myself. People just give each other hints and tips and exchange emails.
There are a few tips that's good to keep in mind if you're looking for comments.
1. Invite people to comment and BEG for comments. A good way is to end your entry with a question. And begging has been known to increase the number of comments - if you write "Please comment", readers are more likely to bother about it.

There are a few blogs out there that have comments disabled. Is there a really good reason for this? It irritates me to read something very interesting just to find out that I can't respond to it. I like to comment to share with the public. Isn't that what blogs are all about? Sharing ideas, listening, and responding. Generally, I would bookmark and add great blogs with comments enabled to my social networking sites. I'm not motivated enough to go back to a blog that won't allow me to write what I have on my mind. If you are a blogger with comments disabled, I would like to hear from you.
Also, I'm losing faith to blogs that do not respond to my comments. These people have time to post new contents which means these people also have time to respond to comments. Why can't they take a bit of their time to respond to comments. It is not hard to respond, and if someone writes a question in comments, bloggers should really respond ot them. Ignoring comments do not seem very professional. If it is a famous blogger with 30+ comments in every single post, then I would understand why this person has no time to respond, but if this blogger has 1-2 comments in the posts, why not take the time to respond? I can preach this all the time: Blogging is all about sharing ideas, listening, and responding. Am I right? What do you think? |

Some users who are new to blogging might not know how to comment or where to click to make a comment. I know I had trouble finding where to click to make a comment on more than one blog. So, in most blogs you simply click on the the title of the post and that will bring you to that individual posts' page. You will see the full text of the post as well as usually the comment section below it. All of the sites I have seen have a spot to make a comment below the last comment. So Scroll down baby. Don't worry, the software is built to take input and you can not break things. Just type in your name and email address and if you have a website and the site allows for you to put that site in, type it in as well. Why email address? - This is one way to combat spam, but also it allows the site owner to say thank you for posting. Other options to get to the comment section - click on the "read more..." or click on the tiny "__ comments" that you see under a post, or some themes have the number of comments in a corner - if you put your cursor over it and it gets underlined, you can click it. Comments are always welcome. I hope that helps. Happy Blogging. Ben :) |

Well talk about an inconvenience! We had some problems with Intense Debate and we were unable to uninstall it from our template so the only solution we could think of was to simply pick another layout for the blog.
That's when we ran into more trouble. We couldn't get Blogger's comment system to work! After uploading a lot of different layouts I suddenly discovered that the comment system works when we pick the pop up window but not the embedded version. I did a little research and I discovered that other bloggers have the same issue. Still, we're gonna stick with Blogger's system for now because I am just too frustrated to have another comment system cause me grief, be it Intense Debate, Haloscan or Disqus.
Now we are left with a new layout that I have to get used to, I might admit, and we face one problem which is that all our old comments are gone and it is only possible to comment on new entries, meaning entries posted today! This blows big time and I wonder if anybody can help me with it so that all entries are open to be commented on.
Anybody know how to do this? I would appreciate the help.

I'm working on our Blogger layout because Intense Debate didn't work and now that I have uploaded a new layout, there is no way for people to leave comments! It doesn't say "Leave a comment" anywhere. I have comments enabled and they should show. I know the latest comments show but there is no way to leave new ones.
Please email me at ggorzelak at mail.tele.dk.
