The greatest wealth is health.
- Virgil

If you have health, you probably will be happy, and if you have health and happiness, you have all the wealth you need, even if it is not all you want.
- Elbert Hubbard

If you have good health, or even tolerably good health, be very grateful and joyful, and be compassionate toward those whose health is failing.

Mother Teresa's prayer

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
... Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
... Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
... Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
... Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
... Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
... Be happy anyway.

I get a lot of sentimental and religious email that people think I should pass on to my 10 best friends. This one is different. See what you think...

The Cab Ride
- Anonymous

I arrived at the address and honked the horn.
After waiting a few minutes
I walked to the
door and knocked.. 'Just a minute', answered a
frail, elderly voice. I could hear something
being dragged across the floor.

After
a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in
her 90's stood before me. She was wearing a
print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned
on it, like somebody out of a 1940's
movie.

Love Your Enemies - Matthew 5:43-44
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

Never An Eye for an Eye - Matthew 5:38-39

38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth. 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Forgive Your Brother from Your Heart - Matthew 18:21-22

Kindness & Compassion...the Two MOST Important Words in our Parenting Language

Home & LivingParenting

I like who I am and how I live my life. There, I said it.

But, this is a blog about parenting, right? So why am I diggin' on myself in my opening line? Well, I believe that you must like yourself AND how you live your life in order to be an effective parent. Dislike for yourself simply doesn't belong at the parenting table.

You'll need to get a handle on that if you want to try on any of my advice. Get to a good place, mentally.

Ok, opinion #1...

To me, being kind and compassionate are the two most important things in life. You can't be a good person if you don't think of other people and their feelings; plain and simple. No one likes a self absorbed jerk. I watched that show on MTV called My Super Sweet 16. It blows my mind how self absorbed these young girls are.

There is nothing wrong with having a big blowout party for any birthday. The problem with these girls?
