$200 CPU Stand from Neiman Marcus is Basically a Decorated Wood Box

wood cpu stand
I would expect nothing less from notoriously overpriced retailer Neiman Marcus than a $200 wood box. "Camouflage your computer's CPU with this decorative wooden stand with intricately carved medallion". I guess it looks ok. But that little matching keyboard holder under the monitor with the pull-out keyboard tray? Yeah that will be an additional $200. Recession? What recession? So that will be $400 for boxes to hide your $350 PC. Sweet deal.

Oh and it's "Not compatible with Macintosh computers." Yep, this wooden box is not compatible with Macs. Why not just say "not compatible with computers that don't fit in the $200 box", because that's about the logic level we're working with here? And shipping and processing will run you $42 for the CPU stand and $31 for the keyboard holder. Add in tax and we're over $500. I'm buying a set for everyone I know. {Cue Oprah Voice} You get a $500 computer stand, and you get a $500 computer stand, and you get a $500 computer stand. {end Oprah}

The Stunning Thermaltake Level 10 PC Case

level 10 case
This may looks like a well-made homebrewed PC case mod but it's actually a commercially produced PC case from Thermaltake called the Level 10. It costs around $700 (yes for just the case) but wow is it a looker. With the low cost of internal computer components these days, even an expensive case like this wouldn't make your computer cost too much more in total than it would have just a few years back. Yes, I just attempted to justify spending $700 on a case. Let's scratch that, instead send me $600 and a buy a $100 case. Thanks.

Enter and Ctrl Keys Card Reader

enter cntrl key card readers
There seems to be an endless stream of reuses for keyboard keys but I don't think we've ever seen a USB card reader made out of them, so here we go. This four slot card reader uses the control and enter keys. The control key is just a cap for the USB plug. This reader supports a whole slew of formats including SDHC 2.0, SD, micro SDHC, microSD/T-flash, Sony M2, Memory Stick, and MS Duo. It supports Window Vista/XP/2000 and Mac OS. Pretty cool and it comes in dark blue or white.

Chocolate Bar HDD Case

chocolate bar hdd case
Halloween is coming soon enough and even your hard drives need their own costume. Why not let your HDD slip into something a little more comfortable, like a case made out of chocolate? Ideal for hiding your drive in the kitchen cabinet to deter it from being stolen by robbers. Not ideal if the robbers happen to have a sweet tooth. A sweet tooth for data that is (zing!).

These cases are made of silicon and come in three "flavors", chocolate brown, white chocolate or strawberry. Each can hold a 2.5” SATA HDD and has a connector with USB output. Each one runs a smidgen under $20.

Care Bears Optical Mouse

care bears optical mouse
I think I just barfed up a rainbow! It's Care Bears optical mice. Yummy. These cute little bears came right from the 80's into your mouse. They float around in water inside the mouse, keeping you highly entertained and happy. Really, I can't think of a better way to spend $37 plus shipping. Just watch out for that evil Professor Coldheart, and his assistant Frostbite- they are always out to get the bears and ruin Care-a-Lot. Let's get that caring meter up to the positive (rainbow) side, people! Care! Care! Care!

Mac vs. PC Chess Set

mac vs pc chess set
Everyone's seen the commercials on both sides of the OS wars declaring the superiority of both PC's and Macs. Designer Adam Frederick has taken that idea and conceptualized it into a chessboard design with the two sides battling it out. I know who I think would win a chess game between the two sides. Cool idea, the design needs a little refinement in my opinion though.

Dual Screen Laptop Looks Pretty Sweet

dual screen laptop
A company called Gscreen is introducing a dual screen laptop later this year called the Spacebook. The notebook features two 15.4 inch screens that can collapse behind one another for times when you just want to use one screen. They plan on producing other sizes too, both larger up 17 inches and smaller at 13 inches. Take a look at the back side of this innovative computer:
