Most of the users often use to copy DVD videos into their PC, but keeping DVD video file may be taking large space in your hard disk.

We found a free software tool called Convert VOB to AVI which allows users to convert (VOB) DVD files into AVI video format.

There are many websites that offer file conversion from one type to another type but most of the sites, will offer support for maximum five to six file formats.

We found a website called Convertfiles.com which allows users to convert more than 100+ formats.

To convert files just select from your computer or from URL, convert files automatically detects the file format for input file and now just select your output file format, now submit your email address and click convert. You will be getting receiving converted file to your email within few minutes.

Note : Converted files will be stored in Convert Files server and you need to save the file within 3 days of receiving email.

Supported File Formats

The DVR-MS and WTV formats are difficult enough to work with on PCs and extenders. What if you want to take your shows on the road, maybe put it on your iPod? Well, basically you’ll need to convert it to a format like MPEG first. Once the file has been turned into an MP4 you’ll find it much more compatible with just about any portable player available.

First we will need to get the tools to do the conversion. For this job we’ll use DVRMSToolbox, one of the most useful applications out there for Media Center users. Download and install DVRMSToolbox from Andy VT’s blog and then (if running beta 7048 or earlier) download todvrms as well. One last thing you’ll need is the profiles from Coyote on Andy VT forms. Just download the package and extract it to your DVRMSToolbox install directory.

Unfortunately, in order to convert WTV to an MP4 we’ll need to get a DVR-MS from it first. Recent versions of the Windows 7 beta include the ability to convert .wtv files from Explorer by right-clicking the file and selecting “Convert to DVR-MS”. If you don’t have this option however, you can also use todvrms to convert the file. There is already a detailed guide on Converting WTV to DVRMS using todvrms here.

One of the most serious problems introduced for those switching from Vista Media Center to Windows 7 Media Center is the abandoning of the DVR-MS format. Up to this point commercial removal software such as comskip or Show Analyzer only work with the DVR-MS format, which has been replaced by WTV in Windows 7. This means no commercial removal in Windows 7 Media Center unless you can convert the files first.

The best method for getting the job done at this point is DVRMSToolbox, a free piece of software from Andy VT’s Blog. This handy application can practically do handstands by itself for all the features it has built in. The one to focus on today is it’s ability to monitor new files in your recorded TV folder then execute a set of commands on the file.

We’ve covered this before here on Hack7MC but thanks to abuttino on Andy VT’s forums we have access to a more refined set of profiles for converting WTV to DVR-MS automatically. To accomplish this you’ll still need to download and install DVRMSToolbox from Andy VT.

Once you’ve got DVRMSToolbox installed download these updated profiles from the forum post made by abuttino and extract the files to your profiles directory. The profiles directory will be located under either Program Files\DVRMSToolbox\Profiles or Program Files(x86)\DVRMSToolbox\Profiles depending on the version of Windows 7 you’re running.

Need to convert a video or two into a different format? Have some MKV files you’d like to play on an extender as MP4 files? Handbrake has the solution for you. Handbrake is a free, open-source program with more features for converting and encoding video than you’ll likely ever need. The interface, however, is easy enough to for basic users to jump right in.

To get started you’ll need to download and install a copy of Handbrake. It’s available for a number of platforms including Windows, OS X and Linux. Command line versions are available as well but for this we will be using the Windows GUI version. Once you’ve got Handbrake installed open up the GUI by selecting HandBrake from the programs menu.

Once inside the first thing we need to do is select the source video. To do this press the “Source” button in the toolbar then select “video file” from the drop down menu. Next set the output file in the Destination File input, you may either select the output type in the Save as type drop down box in the file save window or select the type in the main window.
