In yet another obvious breach of anything that could be considered "transparency", Congress proceeded to push the health care bill/debate forward. The Republicans, at least, voted unanimously against moving forward on a debate and eventual vote, while the Democrats and Independents all voted to proceed. We have been repeatedly assured that the bill would die in the Senate, allaying fears after its surprising pass in the House, but such assurances seem more and more shaky. Government health care will be the death of this already struggling economy. Most people in the real world understand this, as evidenced by national polls concerning the health care bill and the direction of the country. There is still a lot of support, but most of it comes from those who are uneducated on the realities of the bill itself or its costs and the overall impact on the economy. Increasingly, as information becomes more and more known, the polls have been showing steadily declining support for nationalized health care. |

Reviewers may be tempted to spend their time adding to this story rather than summarizing, so will keep this brief. The good news is that industrial society survives the recession and becomes social industry. The right 4 people (times 10 to the nth) of the status quo, however, do not go down easy. This book is fairly complex and can stand multiple readings. The saga artistically opens by describing Suzanne Church’s clothes. She is a forty-five year old journalist who values her integrity. Perry and Lester might remind the reader of Rosencrantz and Gildenstern in their demeanor and antics. Death is 19, and was previously employed by Disney who is majorly displeased by his message board posts. The setting is global from America to Brazil, Russia and India. Tjan the business partner is Singaporean. The story seems to have been grown organically rather than plotted. There are a lot of types of robots, music and medical tourism. Sex and violence are graphic. 3D printers can replicate themselves as well as most goods. Fatkins diet uses biotech to drop pounds, e.g. 325 in ten weeks. New Work is not a city in New Jersey, but a plan for popular production. Open-source is represented by google, ibm and linux. Some things that were not present included iphone, youtube, facebook, twitter, other social networks, microsoft or health insurance. Find the ebook at craphound.com/makers. Thanks. |

It is in the interest of hope and change that I continue to read the news but alas, my hope has rapidly faded and the change I see is more like a repeat performance of a bad movie that has only gotten worse over time no matter how many efforts have been put forth to rewrite it, dress it up in a prettier package and make it look more appealing. Much the same as the mythical (?) holiday fruitcake that gets passed back and forth between family members as a multi-generational Christmas gift and family tradition, this story has played itself out time and again throughout our short history as a nation and around the world and has never once produced a happy ending. It was with more than just a little interest that I noticed the direct conflicts between two “news” stories that came out the other day. In all fairness; one “news” story came from the associated press and one came from that other vast right-wing news organization owned by that radical righty from New York, Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Now since I have been told by people who actually believe that it is true that both of these news sources are indeed part of the vast right-wing conspiracy, perhaps these stories should be taken with a grain of salt. Maybe both history and the news accounts are woefully inadequate to show us just how bad the current situation will become when the harsh reality rears its ugly head and demands payment.

At some point in time it might even have been considered a bold statement, but today I think everybody realizes that it's the truth. I came to ponder about this subject after watching this hilarious YouTube video (it appears a bit repetative after a few seconds, but it gets much funnier and with better insights towards the end):

My buddy Hugh Damright wandered into the Rightwing Deathsquad Softball League lodge today. Hugh is the very model of a modern American Conservative. Cautious with the taxpayers’ dollars, and at the same time reluctant to use to the power of the state in ones private affairs. He’s the kind of guy that will paint his guns with a Holstein pattern, and then wear a parrot costume while he shoots them. In short, he simply doesn’t care what you do, as long as you don’t pick his pocket or get any of your “stuff” on him.
At any rate, I was tending bar when Hugh strolled in and asked for beer. I said “How’s the world treating you buddy?”
He replied:“Like a baby treats a diaper. Like a firecracker treats an anthill. Like a BB gun treats a light bulb. Like a horny weasel treats my Uncle Bob”. Deciding at this moment that I already possessed too much information, I sought to change the subject. “So, what brings you here?” I asked. “A Chevrolet” he stammered, then said;” And that’s just the problem. I’ve always been a Chevy man. Owned ‘em since I was old enough to piss yellow, yet somehow now I can’t bring myself to ever consider one again.” |

While my son is on a forced furlough from his company in Israel (his wife surprised him with a trip for two to Greece while he's off-what a gal!), which indicates that there are still layoffs and belt-tightening, over all the recession might be receding, according to an AP article published by Forbes of a Moody report on Israel's economy.
Recently I wrote in this blog about George Gilder's new book The Israel Test which indicated that Israel is becoming an economic force to be reckoned with and possibly a role model for capitalism.
So will somebody please tell this to Forbes, whose video about "Markets on the Up" doesn't even mention Israel?
