Here's a little project I just began, and thought to share it with BloggersBase' readers:
Daily historical events - literary, musical, artistic, scientific and any other interesting event - presented attractively to kids through links of interest:videos, photos, games, texts and any other sort of interesting information.

Exactly 118 years ago - in 5.1.1892 - construction began on the Golden Gate Bridge, then the longest, today the 9th longest bridge in the world, and still among the most impressive ones.

How to arouse interest in kids in this monument, and in the engineering of bridges in general? First, we must ourselves acknowledge the beauty of the human ability to conceive and perform such complex missions. We may do that together with the kids; here are some guidelines:

All that's worth to ask and know about bridges - a PBS page:

Awesome video about suspension bridges - do you really know how they do it? :-)

Bridge busting - would you like to try that yourself?...

* Since this is a "nugget", there will not be a "Today in History for Kids" post tommorrow; however, I will publish these posts where they originally appeared - in the Facebook and Twitter pages of Kessem.com: a world of magic for kids and parents.
