AskCherLock.com » HAITI HIT BY 7.0 EARTHQUAKE. Cher wrote this plea for help for Haiti earlier today, and while we put together our own post we are giving you a few thoughts from AskCherLock.  Please Remember Haiti TODAY. Our Post will go up later this evening - until then, please feel free to visit ASKCHERLOCK.COM to Add Your Comments. ~RE HAITI HIT BY 7.0 EARTHQUAKEhaitiThe small country of Haiti has been hit by the largest earthquake they have experienced in 200 years. At this time the full impact of devastation is unknown. Haiti is a country for which Rich and I have so much love. We had worked with a missionary group several years ago in its neighboring country of the Dominican Republic. Many of the laborers who worked with the men on this mission to build a church were Haitian. Those of you who have read this blog may recall a post I did about this on November 14th. The post was titled, “Volunteering: A New Meaning to Life.” I watched an interview on CNN with Wyclef Jean who is originally from Haiti. After Hurricane Katrina, he and Norah Jones did a song together to aid in relief efforts for victims of Katrina. I think of that song now as I worry about helpless victims in Haiti. I have posted that song on our video page. Listen to the heart of the message, then see how you may be able to help in turn with humanitarian efforts for Haiti. Keep in mind that the average wage for Haitians is $2.00 per day. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. We are never too poor in spirit to reach out. Here is a list posted by CNN for those who want to aid in this relief effort: TAKE ACTION • International Committee of the Red Cross • World Food ProgrammeAmerican Red CrossDirect Relief InternationalAmericares • Relief International • International Relief Teams • More ways to help: NATURAL DISASTERS —cher Related articles by Zemanta

What Happened On My B-day, November 25?!

ACCELERATED ARMOR ARRIVAL ACHIEVED

It was a race against time and the USS Monitor, and time was running out for Lt. Catesby ap Roger Jones of the Confederate navy. It was well known (at least in the higher reaches of the Confederate Navy Secretary’s office) that the Federal Navy was working on a revolutionary armor-plated warship. The South needed a counterpart, and the solution had been to refloat the partially-burned hulk of a ship called Merrimack which had been sunk in Norfolk Navy Yard when the Federal forces abandoned the area. The parts of the vessel damaged by fire were mostly areas that would have had to be removed to accommodate the new design anyway. The first load of armor plate was today received by Navy Secretary Stephen Mallory, and sent on to Jones to become the skin of the reborn CSS Virginia.

Forty years ago today, Neil Armstrong became the first human being to walk on the surface of the moon.  I remember my father insisting that we wake up in time to watch it on a small, grainy, black and white TV set, the only one in the house, in my parents' bedroom.

For years afterward, our teachers would wheel TV sets into our classrooms so that we could watch live coverage of the take offs, landings, moon walks and space walks of the Apollo astronauts.

Disclaimer: This article isn't meant to mock or question the legacy of one of the best-known entertainers in the world, but rather tries to trace his influence on some the lesser known artists.

As the world mourns the loss of The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, its worthy to take a look at music history and a number of artists who paid a tribute to the King while he was still alive (albeit, those who did it in their own twisted / tongue-in-cheek way).

It probably won't be a stretch to call Canadian saxophonist and collagist John Oswald "the king of plunderphonics", as he worked with a material by countless artists including Metallica, Carly Simon and Doors . Plunderphonics is a curious genre of music that involves the use of samples lifted from popular sources such as TV, music and radio and turning them into new pieces.

If you don't trust Bloomberg, then you don't know Bloomberg "

My source of info for contaminated vaccine distributed by Baxter was from Bloomberg which I had mentioned earlier how they are suspected of starting the spread of the H1N1 virus (in the form of contaminated vaccine batches sent to 18 countries in mid February 2009).  I do trust this source of info.
