Collecta founded by
Gerry Campbell former
SVP of Search for AOL and co-founded with Jack Moffitt, Brian Zisk, and Patrick Mahoney. Derek Powazek of JPG Magazine fame is the creative director.
Collecta does a great job in realtime search, these resuts come from
Twitter, of course, but also from news feeds, blog posts, comments, videos from YouTube, Ustream and Flickr, TwitPic, yFrog photos. Status updates on Jaiku and Identica are also captured.
In addition to realtime search results Collecta let users to
share your search results to Twitter, FaceBook, Mixx, Delicious, Stumbleupon, Reddit. This feature is quite useful to users, when they found any intresting post, picture or video on realtime search results then just click on Twitter icon to tweet, Stumbleupon icon to stumble about the result. Instead of sharing any particular search result you can also share the whole realtime search result, find embed code and URL of the realtime search result under "share search".
One final thing i don't know why collecta dosen't include Digg? If you guess any reason, share with us much appriceated.
