Goal Accomplishment – Sow the Seeds

Jesus is back !

If you have never been to northeast Florida we do not have seasons, just hot and not hot, that's it. Growing up in a rural town in Arkansas and being around farmers until I left there at twenty to join the Navy I had a sense for what season it was. I knew it was planting season or harvest or when it was time to prepare the ground or leave it alone. Each of us have seasons in our lives and we need to know what season it is and when they change we need to know how to plant seeds, cultivate the ground or harvest our reward.

Yes if you know anything about the Bible you know that Jesus told the parable of the sower and the author of Ecclesiastes told us there is a time for all things. Have you ever stopped to think about those times and what they mean to you?

1. Cultivating – This is a time to make the ground ready. When you cultivate your mind you are reading books and listening to CD's (MP3's) and filling your mind with good information to set a solid foundation for what is ahead. Cultivating also has an aspect that makes it the most important area for success. You must cultivate before you plant. You need to study the area you are going to start your endeavor in but also begin to establish personal growth habits by learning to set goals and make lists of important tasks to handle.

The the Despised & Rejected

BFn Notes
gah

This talk was given by a young female engineer and mission worker in Myanmar (Burma). In Myanmar orphans have little respect from others, and do not have the opportunity of others. Donations are often made first to a Buddha shrine and monks and last to the poor. In addition Myanmar authorities limit how much money foreigners can donate to an orphanage, and all occurs in a suspicious environment where every foreigner may be regarded as a spy.

Despised & Rejected

I gave this talk to the older orphanage children after becoming aware of how the orphanage children felt they were treated by others in the local community.

The talk began with reference to a favourite childhood book about an orphan who overcomes trial, and unattractive features due to a positive character.

The Bible speaks about two important people who overcome prejudice and people despising them.

The first one was Joseph (Genesis 17). He was one of 12 children born to 4 different mothers. His mother died when his younger brother Benjamin was born. His brothers hated him and when he was 17 years old they sold him into slavery to the Midianites. The Midianites sold him to Potipher, the captain of Pharaoh's officers in Egypt. About 10 years later Joseph was put into prison for something he did not do, where he stayed until he interpreted Pharaoh's dream who then promoted him to be a ruler over all Egypt. He was 30 years old.

The second example from the Bible is Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that he was despised and rejected. He had no beauty and was familiar with suffering and sorrow (Is 53). People thought that he was illegitimate. One of his 12 disciples Judah betrayed him to death. At his trial for crucifixion his friends deserted and denied him. But God raised him from the dead and he now sits at God's right hand as a King - the King of the earth.

The life picture we see of Joseph and Christ is not unique in the Bible. It appears in almost every Bible life. Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Hannah and Samuel, Ruth and Naomi, David, the prophets, Christ, the 12 disciples and Paul.

In Hebrews chapter 11:33-40 there is  a description of the lives of the faithful; some were tortured, jeered at, flogged, chained and put in prison, stoned, sawed in two, destitute, persecuted and mistreated. They did this to obtain a better resurrection and were commended for their faith and they now wait in sleep so that they can be made perfect with us.

So why is there suffering in our lives? The Bible gives us many answers:

1. Presence of sin

2. To develop our character. In life you never see anyone do great things unless they have experienced hard things and worked to overcome them.

Isaiah 66:2 God esteems the person that is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at His word.

James 2:5 God has chosen those that are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the Kingdom.

1 Corinthians 1:28 God has chosen the lowly things of the world and despised things

Matthew 5 The poor in spirit and meek will inherit the Kingdom

3. To show the powerful hand of God by miracles. If everything was easy we would not need God or recognise that it was God doing it.

John 9:3 Jesus was asked why a man was born blind. Jesus replies that it was because the work of God was to be displayed.

Luke 1:37 Elizabeth, old and barren, became the mother of John the Baptist because with God nothing is impossible.see Impossibilty and God

When people look down at you, when you suffer as a Christian, have confidence in God.

I encourage you to choose a Bible character that you can relate to and make them your inspiration. They would not look down at you, but encourage you to continue in Christ, waiting for his second coming to earth. When he does come there will be no more tears of sorrow, instead there will be mercy, justice and righteousness.

Those in the Kingdom of God will not be there because they are rich, famous or important. It is those who have suffered and been persecuted for God. In Revelation 21;1-4 we see a picture of God's Kingdom. We see Jerusalem coming down from heaven, and God then dwelling with people and wiping away tears from their eyes. There is no more sorrow or death. The old way that we know now will pass away. Rev 5:10 says that we will reign as kings and priests on earth. The eyes of the blind will be opened, the ears of the deaf will hear, the lame will leap, water will be in the desert (Is 35:5-10). The redeemed of God will enter Zion with gladness and joy. Sorrow and sighing will flee away.

Book Review: Beautiful Things Happen When a Woman Trusts God by Sheila Walsh

What Beth Moore's Believing God did for my healing in Christ, I believe Sheila Walsh's Beautiful Things Happen When a Woman Trusts God is the same caliber of a book.

As a blogger and writer, I'm constantly putting myself out there in surrender mode. I get frustrated because some issues take so long, or, I make progress only to take three steps back. Sheila Walsh showed me just through the title and cover of the book what my root problem is:

Trusting God.

Sheila opens up the pages of her life and holds little back in her struggles, confessions, and experiences. Beautiful Things Happen When a Woman Trusts God is part testimony, but so much more. Sheila dug up some beautiful research for this book and wove Biblical characters and their trust God issues throughout her story. I learned so much about Anna, Tabitha, and even well known Bible characters like Joseph. If that wasn't enough, at the end there is a free Bible study. I just started a small group in my home to encouragement women and show them God's huge love for them. I can't wait to utilize the Bible study. I don't know what else to say except if I was on a swing and Sheila was pushing, I'd let her take me as high as she wanted to push. If you read her book, you know that's quite a statement.

I'm Not Scared of the Pounce-The Defeated One is on a Leash and Declawed

Another great chapter by the late Jill Austin from her book, Dancing with Destiny.  I can't say enough about how important it is for readers to take this chapter on spiritual warfare seriously.  Jill has a sentence in the beginning that basically says, "new level, new devil."  It's the truth.

The mediocre Christian is no threat to the devil, who is really the defeated one.  It's the hungry follower of Christ who wants more of Him that gets the devil shaking in fear and desperation.

Jill shares her experiences and I have my own.  I've had a car accident the minute, MINUTE I started praising God for the first time out loud.  The praise is that although that shut me down for a long time, ultimately God restored my faith stronger than ever.  Now that story is in print for others to be encouraged and seek God.

I've also been asleep and had choking bouts out of nowhere.  I've had such a spirit of confusion come over me out of no where I've thought I needed medical attention.  When I was praying with others about the negative -ions that I've been writing about, I think it was manipulation I renounced in Jesus' name and a headache came on that gripped my head like a vise.  I knew it was an attack and I said so right then.  The team prayed over me and the feeling let go after a few minutes.

Suit Up My Friend

I'm on Chapter 7 of the late Jill Austin's book, Dancing with Destiny.

The more I talk with others, listen to services, read devotionals...it's always coming back to the same theme: dreams.

We all have dreams and we either never realized them or they were crushed somehow. It's time to get those dreams back.

Maybe not how you think they are meant to be, but how God created the dream to be in and through you. I'm seeing this take place with women and it's exciting. But one thing this chapter reminds me... You have to contend for your dreams.

Like I said, your dreams are a creation of Our Creator, God. Your Heavenly Father. You also are God's creation. That means an automatic fight with the defeated one. I'm not sure why it surprises people when they learn the devil is real and hates you.

It's. his. job.

The message God is sharing with me is that this truth shouldn't scare us off or make us quit. If Christ is your Savior, you have as much power as Christ did on Resurrection day.

You already are on the winning team.

And the one who is after you is the defeated one, not you.

With our own eyes we're seeing a literal shaking in the world. Governments are changing, sometimes overnight. What we thought would always be stable is either unstable or outright gone. Thing is, that shouldn't surprise us either. The Bible states wars, rumors of war, shakings, famine...and well, here we are.

1 Peter 5:8 NIV tells us,

Bizarre conspiracies and psychologically unrealistic behavior in the Gospels

Greetings.

Jewish date:  2 Shevaṭ 5770 (Parashath Bo’).

Today’s holidays:  Second Sunday of Ordinary Time (Roman Catholicism), Feast of St. Anthony the Great (Greek Orthodox Christianity), Joshmas (Discordianism).

Topic 1:  More religious oppression:  “Two Christians Critically Wounded at Wedding in Pakistan”, “UZBEKISTAN: Illegal Christmas as unregistered religious activity punished”, “Dutch lawmaker fails to avoid hate speech charges” (freedom of speech includes being able to say things others find offensive), and “Copts protest Christmas killings at Cairo cathedral” (they are sick of being treated as second-class citizens).  Meanwhile, Vietnamese Catholics have taken to protesting in a novel way:  “Dong Chiem is becoming a "Mount of Crosses"

Topic 2:  The more you read something carefully, the more the details stand out.  One of the most controversial questions in the Gospels is who is responsible for the death of Jesus

Now That's Hot

White fire. That's a fire so hot the item has been refined so many times it returns clean. It's a glorious white for good reason---there is nothing left of the original after white fire. It's a reflection, an image of the Maker. To quote Paris Hilton, "that's hot."

For those of you that know Job from the Bible, he took a few dips in the fire. If he lived in modern times, he would have been the guy who lost it all in the stock market, his house was taken away, his kids would have all had a terminal illness, his land would have caught fire, and he would have broken out in a skin condition that would make people look away. Not fun times. But that's what a white fire is about. Those hard times aren't a cruel joke, as I often wondered. It's to get rid of Julie---the fleshy Julie who wants her own way and doesn't have a clue what true Love is. It's to dip me through the hard stuff time and time again until when you take a look, you see Jesus when you look at me. Those hard, unspeakable times are for His glory. My guess is if you can't receive that, you most likely are in the fire...or will be about to.

I also learned another aspect of the Holy Spirit. I read (and loved) The Shack
