Not Your Conventional E- Card

The Internet these days keeps springing up with more and more great sites featuring what the web is best at doing- removing all borders in communication.

There was once the email and there will always be the email. Till this day its functionality still hasn't ceased to exist but has gone on to become a fixture in a working person's everyday life.

And then now, there's the e-cards, not yet a fixture in everyday lives but is working towards a future where a card forgotten to be bought on birthdays or other special occasions is not anymore excusable than the 'I forgot to buy you a present so I'll just wish you a happy birthday' line.

someecards.com provides users just that. You may have thought that e-cards are tacky or somewhat cheesy in the laziest of ways but 'someecards' makes it all the less chessy and your brains a little more active than the average e-card sender.

On this site which I stumbled upon on Twitter,  users are able to choose from a huge variety of cards for any occasions be it the traditional birthday cards, wedding cards right to cards on break- ups, reminders and courtesy hellos.

But the feature the site has to offer is not the formerly mentioned but the 'create a card' section where you are able to personalize your own e- cards with the easily comprehensible and navigated tools and icons that come pre- made for you. Firstly, you choose from the selection of the classic black and white imprinted images to suit your occasion before you select the color of your choice for the mood of the card's background. After which you can write whatever is on your mind on the blank space on the card itself, though wordspace has been limited to sometimes Twittering.

Then, you can either send the card out immediately or you can submit it to the user's cards gallery for the editor to sieve through for the best or be sent out by other users.

Come to think of it, 'someecards' has become more of a way to express yourself to become the future (perverted) Hallmark card writer than providing you with a more ingenious way of sending an e-card. Anyway it is, 'someecards' has something for everyone. In my case, it has become a daily addiction (aside from Twittering) than a convenient place to send e- cards when real cards were forgotten to be bought.
