Katy Perry Assesses Her ‘Competition’

EntertainmentMedia

Katy Perry released her first album One of the Boys about two years ago now. Her first two singles experienced massive success, and ‘I Kissed a Girl’ kept everyone talking.
Since the release, the pop music scene has been given even more of the shock and awe treatment by the likes of Lady Gaga and Ke$ha, the former who certainly seems to be controlling its direction right now.
With a follow-up album scheduled to drop later this year, Katy talks to Nylon magazine about the state of the music scene and where she hopes to fit in with regards to her ‘competition:’ (quoted because, well, Gaga and Katy are in no way competitors as far as this blogger is concerned!)

You’ve got Lady Gaga, who’s like, from outer space; you’ve got Ke$ha, who’s the beer-drinking, house-party girl; and then you’ve got Rihanna, who’s transforming the urban world into her own outer space,” she explains. “But I feel like you’re missing an Alanis Morissette, 2010. I love how she was a voice for a lot of people who couldn’t explain their feelings. But it’s not like I’m not gonna compete. I love a good dose of healthy competition. It’s not going to be the same thing that they’re doing.

French Popstar Alizée's Surprise 'Comeback'

Most of you might not be familiar with one of my favorite international popstars: Alizée. She’s a French singer that experienced massive success in France and many other countries around the world with her debut single ‘Moi…Lolita’ and album Gourmandises. She was also the protégé of critically-acclaimed French singer/songwriter Mylène Farmer, who produced both of her first albums.

While I absolutely adored Gourmandises, her subsequent albums only had a few tracks that I really enjoyed. She took a bit of a hiatus after her second album, Mes Courants Electriques, got married had a baby, and then put out her last album Psychédélices, the first of which to not be produced by Mylène.
That album was really different in style from the Alizée I knew, and lead single ‘Mademoiselle Juliette’ was really the only one to see moderate success.

Now, seemingly out of nowhere, Alizée is readying a new album, Une Enfant du Siècle

some of us are closing our eyes to Haiti, as we seem to think it’s all better now. incase you missed the news – IT’S NOT.
If Anything it's Getting Worse. most of the attention is now being refocused and that means the basics needs are still not being met. people are still homeless and even still being pulled alive from the buildings almost a month later.

MTV Article: Why You Shouldn’t Hate On Taylor Swift

EntertainmentMedia

With the Grammys being over it’s been a rather slow pop music week as people still talk about what went down Sunday night. So, I’ve been reading several articles detailing the night’s events…and then I came across this article published on MTV’s website.
The article attempts to back up Taylor Swift’s horrendous live performance on the Grammy night, you know, the one where she sang live alongside legend Stevie Nicks; no, don’t recall? Maybe the sound of a whining horse can conjure up the memories we’ve all now tried to bury.
The writer describes Taylor’s performance as ‘wobbly’ and as an ‘off-performance.’
Wobbles would be a step up from the undulations in pitch Taylor’s voice emitted that night; and off-performance doesn’t account for the multitude of YouTube clips which show that the girl really does have pitch issues singing live. The article goes on to say:

Some of us have been INFECTED Again, with a Virus…

Why ?

These are the words of my blogging buddy Sheila from the Ad Master –

My blog was hacked today.  Somehow someone inserted a huge line of code into my blogs header which caused it to redirect to a bunch of stupid sites.  I wish I could redirect something right back at them that would blow up their damn computers while they’re busy hacking into someone’s private property.  These people make me insane!!!!!   I wasn’t aware of how much I didn’t know about these morons.  I didn’t know that hacker isn’t really an appropriate word for these #$$@^&*(), the appropriate term would be cracker.  Hackers break code for good and crackers break code for evil.   Here’s some info from a great site which helped me better understand the world of a hack or crack or whatever the heck they are. hackingalert.com

Personally I notified several bloggers this week that they’d been infected with this stupid lil click trash. yes it’s a click virus.

SKYPE CUSTOMER SERVICE

EntertainmentMedia

This is one of my rare off the wall subjects, but I just had to let the world know.
You see I have been using Skype for my business for well over a year now and it has been extremely helpful especially when continued business relations with my distributors all over the world is a must.

I originally signed up for the Unlimited World subscription plan which at the time included three phone numbers that I could use along with the subscription. I chose a UK phone number for my partners in the UK, a US number for business relations in America, and finally a Japanese number so that when I was overseas my Japanese customers could still get in touch even if they didn't have Skype.
