Something that both the Settlers in Judea and Samaria and the Palestinian extremists (I’m not sure that there’s any other kind) have in common:
The belief in a One State Solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and along with it the desire to erase the Green Line (Israel’s pre-1967 border), i.e. the desire to erase the distinction between Israel proper and the rest of Palestine, especially the West Bank.
The proponents of a Greater Israel and the Palestinians have to a large extent succeeded.  Thanks to their ceaseless efforts, world public opinion has ceased to make that distinction, and now openly questions whether the State of Israel should exist at all, irrespective of borders.
Way to go, guys.
All but a far-sighted few bought into the idea of a Greater Israel, encompassing all the territories liberated by Israel in the June 1967 Six-Day War.  (I only abandoned the belief a few years ago.)  It’s time to let go of Greater Israel, before it destroys Little Israel.

To Maskil

The 1947 UN partition plan did not lead to the creation of Israel. The Arabs refused to accept that plan. Israel was created only after the Jews fought off seven invading Arab armies and the UN stood by and watched.

It is too late to go back to that plan since 500000 Jews will have to be uprooted from their current homes and livelihoods.

The Green Line was never a border - only an armistice line. Jews have a better entitlement in international law than the Arabs to settle in the West Bank to reconstitute the Jewish National Home there.

The Arabs had from 1947-1967 to create their State in 100% of the West Bank and Gaza after the Jews had been driven out of there by the invading Arab armies. That opportunity won't return again.

Israel's offer to cede its claims to 95% of the West Bank and 100% of Gaza continues to fall on deaf Palestinian Authority ears. It is time to wind up the Palestinian Authority and negotiate with Jordan on the division of sovereignty in the West Bank between Jews and Arabs.

The one state solution is a non-starter. Israel will not be committing national suicide.
