The most powerful Jewish advisor to a foreign superpower returned home to Israel to bury his father in the family crypt.
He stood there with his brothers, knowing that they had no choice but to return to the formidable foreign entourage waiting for them across the border.
For while he was second only to the ruler of the foreign empire, he and his brothers had to leave their children and cattle behind in what at the time was a gilded cage as a guarantee that they would not exploit this opportunity to permanently return home to Israel.
And today, we can stand at that very same place and as we let the pathos sink in of that heart wrenching moment we also celebrate how lucky we are that we have been honored to be able to not only visit, but to stay, rather than turn back to face generations of servitude on foreign soil.

"Also overall security responsibility should be placed in the end on Egypt (AL: in the Gaza Strip)
"Jordan ...in such an arrangement should give support...including the issuing of passports and taking of overall and comprehensive security responsibility for what transpires in Judea and Samaria"
"Thus for practical purposes this arrangement will be, almost certainly, a kind of two confederations - in one case with the Jordanians, and in the other case with Egypt."
Avigdor Lieberman - My Truth (2004) - pages 202-203
Time and again Yisrael Beiteinu leader Avigdor Lieberman is labeled by the media as "right wing".
But is he?
Consider what he proposes as his "solution" to the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Lieberman sees bringing Jordanian security forces to the back entrance of Kfar Sava and Egyptian forces a few kilometers from Ashkelon.

Question: Last week a Palestinian Police Officer (Mahmoud Yusef Nimer Hattib) killed an Israeli soldier (NCO Sgt 1st Class Ihab Khatib).
PA Ministry of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs – Information Department Director General Osama Al-Ghoul: Yes
Question: Now he is being held by Israel. Is it the position of the Palestinian Authority that he should be freed?
Osama Al-Ghoul: Of course. This is our struggle with the Israeli occupies (sic)
Question: He should be released. Fair enough. Not to be extradited but instead just freed.

Dr. Aaron Lerner - IMRA:
PA PM Fayad does more than honor a dead terrorist who was killed as he
attempted to stab an Israeli soldier. He asserts that the terrorists
activities were part of the "non-violent protests".
This is an important warning to those who are so impressed by all the talk
about Palestinian "non-violent protest" as if Fayad and Abbas were going to
march arm in arm in some kind of nonviolent protest.
This is Palestinian "non-violent protest":
- rock throwing
- fire bomb throwing
and now, apparently "moderate" PA PM Fayad has added knifing.

A man named Marcus Henderson Wilder who walked 600 miles through Spain at age 69, is apparently publishing a book on "Israel and Palestine." He asked honest questions about the region and its history, which he researched. Answers to some of these questions, called "Israel and Palestine Chapter One", are on his website.
I don't know what, if any, connection he has or has had with Israel, but he 'discovered' facts which the world at large does not recognize, in its vilification of and blame on Israel for the situation of the Arabs vis-a-vis the Jewish State. Seems that many more should read this when his book is published in April. Here is an excerpt:
Naked Data©
The 1844 census of Jerusalem found 7120 Jews...5760 Muslims...3390 Christians.
In 1869, Mark Twain wrote of the emptiness of the land, of traveling all day without seeing a human being on the roads or in the countryside.
