Sony has announced new Sony VAIO X series at IFA 2009, a half-inch thin ultraportable with an 11.1-inch screen display netbook. This new ultra portable, dubbed Vaio X, will feature a LED backlit 11.1 LCD, possibly a Atom processor. Engineering prototypes were shown at the IFA 2009 expo that had carbon fiber body and aluminum keyboard making it weigh around 1.5 pounds. Other specs are hard to come by, but it looks as if the Vaio X will come with an aluminium keyboard, 120GB HDD, 2GB memory and supposedly a long-lasting battery. Usual I/O includes 2 USB ports, VGA, MS/SD card reader, WiFi/WWAN We will update you on full specs soon! [ Read More ]

The look of the Vaio X is very nice, lightweight and ultra-slim laptop will come with an integrated 3G wireless support, an all day battery and an Ethernet port. The lid is carbon fibre, like the existing T-Series, while the 700g featherlight chassis is slim but sturdy. We saw two different lid styles, one glossy, one matt. Sony says it will “set the new standard for stamina,” but didn’t provide an estimate for battery life. There’s an Atom processor inside, but Sony didn’t specify which flavor.
