AN UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCE

Catherine stumbled out from the door of the doctor’s surgery onto the street. She screwed up her eyes against the glare of the sun and made her way to the coffee shop she remembered seeing on the way to the appointment with Doctor Flannagan, their new family doctor.  Yes, that’s what she needed, a strong cup of coffee to clear her head and to think.  Doctor Flannagan had been very kind.

‘I’m afraid you’re pregnant, Cathy,’ he’d told her.

‘But I can’t be,’ she had answered in alarm. ‘Forty-eight is too old to be having a baby. What will my husband and family think?’

Doctor Flannagan had coughed and looked uncomfortable.  He’d hesitated and then spoke. ‘I know someone who could help you if that is what you would like.’

‘You mean an abortion?’ Catherine had asked. ‘I can’t do that Doctor Flannagan.  I’m a Catholic It’s against every belief and principle I have.’

‘I’m just telling you that it’s an option I can help you with.’

‘I’ll think about it, Doctor,’ she’d answered unconvinced.

Catherine sat in the coffee shop at a table by the window and watched the procession of people passing by.  Her head spun like a top and she had the beginnings of a headache. How was she going to manage the demands of a baby at her age and what about her job?

How to say Goodbye to Kidney Stones:  Non-surgically and Painlessly      Warning:  May contain "gory" images.  Viewers' discretion advised!

"Dlop!"  My brother etched closer to scrutinise what looked like a little stone.  He just passed out a KIDNEY STONE!   Before this, he had lower back aches (one of the symptoms of kidney stone/s if bad posture is not the cause).

Kidney Stones

What's the cause of Kidney Stones?

Most kidney stones (if not caused by genes) are actually made of accumulated deposits of CALCIUM.   Kidney stones are formed because one is:
1.  taking synthetic vitamins (not real natural vitamins)
2.  taking too much of salt or synethetic salt (usually named as "sodium nitrate" in canned meat, etc)

Endometriosis, The Pain From Within

LifestyleHealth, Sports & Fitness

Often times friends will ask my for help or some alternative ideas.  Today is yet another one of those days and I always feel it is good to share the information with as many as possible.

Endometriosis is a very painful diagnosis where uterine tissue attaches itself to other organs in the body.  This could include; fallopian tubes, ovaries, the uterus and may even travel outside of the pelvic region to the bladder, lungs and other areas.

It has been reported that two out every three woman have endometrial growths on their ovaries.

The reason for this severe pain may be due to the fact that this tissue continues to act like it is part of the uterus.  It fills with blood during every menstrual cycle yet the body is unable to flush this fluid out and it accumulates in the form of a cyst.

It is not truly known why Endometriosis happens.

"I've been secretly planning our wedding!"

I don't know what came over me. Maybe it was from lack of sleep. Maybe it was the pain killers I've been taking for my gum infection. Or maybe it was just plain old guilt. Whatever it was I could no longer contain the fact that I have been planning Jay's and my future wedding unbeknownst to him.

"What?" Jay looked at me confused by this latest outburst.

"I've been secretly planning our wedding." I slumped down in my seat waiting for my future groom's reaction.

"We're not even engaged yet!"

"I know." I say quietly.

"How can you plan a wedding when I haven't even proposed?", he asks.

Getting Over A Break Up Smoothly & Quickly

LifestyleLove & Relationships

I assume that if you are reading this you are in some stage of getting over a break up. Your head is full of a million different thoughts, they go from wanting to kill them to missing them and you wanting them back. The thoughts just keep racing through your head until it feels like it will explode. Don't worry, you are not going crazing. This is normal after a breakup, here a few thoughts about getting over a break up.

Getting over a break up is a grieving process similar to the grieving process of a person that has died. There is a grieving process because a relationship has died. Although the death of a person is not as traumatic a s a person dying, the death of a relationship can be devastating. (regardless of male or female) The break up of a serious relationship can render a person an unproductive member of society until the healing begins.

One of the best ways to start the healing process and get over a break up is to get out a pen and some paper and start writing. Not on a computer with a word processor, but pen and paper. The act of writing with pen and paper has a much deeper connection to your mind and emotions. Write out every feeling and emotion that you are experiencing and don't be polite

Taming Chronic Pain When Medication Isn't Enough

HealthChronic Illness

Millions of people in our world suffer from chronic pain.  Sometimes, the best medications and treatments just aren't enough to eliminate it.  The main source of the pain may be incurable:  arthritis, fibromyalgia, back problems, to name a few.

It helps to remember that we are multi-faceted, and for the best results in taming your pain, a three-fold approach is the way to go.  Address your body, yes, but also your mind and spirit.  Depression, anger, loss of faith, loss of friends and support of family often accompany chronic illness and pain.  Below, I will address each of these facets of your life with things to try other than more and more medication, which can carry negative side-effects.  This is not to say ditch your medication or your doctor's advice, but to enhance the relief you can obtain by taking actions that are not harmful to you.

Pillows, lots of pillows, can be your best friends.  Buy them in varying sizes and degrees of firmness, and experiment with using them to support the tender parts of your body.  For instance, if you have shoulder or neck pain, try keeping one on each side of you or on your lap while sitting to take some of the pressure of those painful areas.  They make excellent arm rests, head rests, back support aids.  This applies for getting a better night's sleep, as well, so take a few extra small pillows to bed with you.  If you're traveling far by car, again, take some of your pillows.

There WILL be a day

I hurt for my friends. Those of you that have read anything I have written about some of them, you know that I am very passionate about their happiness. So much so yes, that I , when provoked, tend to try and solve their problems. It is hard for me to step back and actually not try and let them know they will be ok. I listen, but I tend to opinionate myself instead of just letting them vent. (For that my dear friends, my apologies. )

Today I was thinking about what I will post. For some reason I feel I need to say something to you all every day. Isn't that the point of a blog? Why does it have to be? (Another subject- another post) Point here is solely that I have such a peace in my heart becasue of who I am IN God, that I ache when those around me don't share that with me.

So much around me lately has pointed at me lately telling me to just sit for them. Be here for them. Yesterday I got off work early. As my son was cleaning his room, I turned on the TV.
