Gmail Requires SMS Verification to Create an New Account

Two days back i got a phone call from my friend, he ask's me to create an new gmail account to his dad for some personal use. When i tried to sign up i saw something intresting and unbelivable, yes once i clicked "i accept, Create my account" button usually it will take you to ready to show your account page. This time Gmail takes you to verification page, where you need to give your mobile number for SMS verification. [ Read more ]

As shown in image you need to verify your accoount via SMS by providing your country and mobile number. When you give your phone number you will send an SMS with acess code to your mobile. If you don't have mobile with you, then you can use your friends mobile to get your access code. Once you recive your code use it to login. Google add this new security update after the recent password recovery option via SMS.

Google Adds New Password Recovery Option Via SMS

Password recovery this term might be well known to all users who owns an email. Many of us come across this term, i personally experienced a couple of times. If you lost or forget your password normally we used to click on forget password link and mention email address or Answering to  a security question to reset your password.In addition to these options Google adds a new option to recover your password: Via SMS. Mobile phones are widely used among users around the world. Since Google decided sending recoverd password via text messages would be more convenient and easier for the user. Currently the options is only available in the US. If you are in US then login to your Google account and click on Change Password Recovery Options. Type your mobile number and current password and clicking save button you will be getting an access code in reply as an text message. Now enter the access code to login to you Google account.

If people other than US like to try this new password recovery option, use any US proxy and try it out and leave you valuable feedback and suggestions. Happy Googling :)
