This entire day has been a total loss. Literally. I received a call from Israel this a.m. (my time) from my cousin (his niece), telling me that my Uncle Jack had passed away this morning (Israel time).
I had a close relationship with Dod* Yaakov (at least, I thought so), even though we had not spoken very frequently since we left Israel from our last visit almost exactly two years ago, March 2008, for our older son's wedding. But whenever we talked, even if it was months apart--it was as if we were both of us in the same room, sitting on his sofa and chair in his living room in the moshav which he helped found, philosophizing about family, life, G-d, values and Judaism.
Since we saw him last, he had had a quadruple-bypass operation, and initially, I thought, had been doing well.

In light of the great snow storms which descended upon New York and the entire East Coast of the United States, here is a great snow sculpture, lending new meaning to the expression "Two Feet of Snow." Hat tip, my friend Miriam Leibe.

The "Balloon Boy" incident really puts parenting on the forefront. Let me think how this dinner conversation went. OK Falcon, when I start yelling, hide in the closet. I'll make the world think you are in this mylar balloon that is held together with duct tape and chewing gum and it is floating into space. Mayumi, you handle the camera. All the rest of you kids pretend Falcon is still in the balloon. We'll get famous. From there I'll get the PR rolling and we'll build a better spaceship than Richard Branson.
As things would unravel, the whole plan was uncovered. Richard Henne wasn't quite in the spotlight, he was more like a pack of fries under the heat light at McDonald's. Things got hot and someone was about to spread salt on the wound. That salt shaker would be in the shape of Larry King. Henne tried to coach the un-coachable Falcon. "If Larry asks you any questions, what ever you do, don't say it was for the show. You got it, DON'T mention us wanting to get on television. Just pretend, cry a little bit. Maybe limp if you have to."

Be InterestingThere is nothing I hate more than a girl who isn't sarcastic and witty. For example, One of my friends named Ginger is a pretty lousy friend at times, but I can never get mad at her because she is so interesting. We have great conversations. Not once have we've ever talked how our day has been or sent each other texts with “hey” or “what's up” in it. Another one of my friend's named Holly would send me one word texts every single day. She was a terrific friend, however her texts were very, very dull. It's really hard to be interesting until you know his personality and know about his life, so initiate some conversation face to face before you begin texting too much. I read a few articles that suggest women should not be too entertaining so the guy they like will have to work for them. Don't do this. This is terrible advice. No guy wants to force a conversation or have to be “on” all the time. Even if he doesn't find you very attractive if you have great conversations with him he will eventually have feelings for you. My speech impediment caused me to be overly shy for almost my whole childhood. I was afraid to talk to most people, because I didn't want them to ask me “oh, what kind of accent do you have”. I barely had any friends in 8th grade, my social life was terrible. I spent
Step 1: Discover Why You're Shy And Fix It If you've been shy your whole life then you can go ahead and skip this step, because you're probably naturally shy. You really need to look into why you're shy and try to fix the main issue yourself. This will be the vaguest step on the list. My speech impediment caused me to be shy. After I went to a speech pathologist and got it fixed, my confidence soared. In most cases people are shy because their self esteem or self confidence isn't very high. Why are you shy? Is it something about the way you look? Something about how you act? If you find out and still don't know how to fix it, leave a comment and I'll help you out. Step 2: Talk To Everybody You Can Easily Converse With, But Don't Becoming social is all about practice. You need to start talking more if you want to cure your shyness. First start by talking to everybody you can talk to, but don't. Talk to your siblings, that annoying kid that nobody likes in your class, that kid with autism who nobody talks to, and even talk to your mom and dad more. After a few months you'll notice you will have less anxiety when you talk to strangers. Step 3: Watch A Ton Of Stand Up Comedy |

Obviously, Tiger learned nothing from Kobe, Bill Clinton, Governor Mark Sanford, David Letterman, Russell Crowe, Mick Jagger and every other celebrity chased by TMZ. He was out late playing the nineteenth hole and got busted.
Everyone knows his story by now. Balloon Boy, The Diaper Bomber and mind numbing speeches by Sarah Palin make you forget about Tiger and his sexual urges. When he comes back and starts playing golf again I have a feeling he may be asked about them. Hopefully he will be able to resist the urge to hump someone's leg.
The first reports about the SUV accident had Elin using a golf club to free Tiger from his wrecked car. I don't think so. My guess was that she was using the club on him, freeing him of some teeth. Nobody has seen him since, don't be surprised if he's sporting an altered grill.
