For years, the people of the United States have been forced to cope with illegal border crossings. When those border crossings were of Mexican citizens “who want nothing but a better life”, anyone complaining was branded a racist. But now, the Mexican government is complaining about illegal crossings from the United States into Mexico. Those crossings are of weapons and drug money and they want us to do something about it. And it appears that the left wing nut jobs in Congress and the White House are listening.
This story is absurd for a number of reasons. "The same routes and the same methods used to traffic drugs can be used to traffic undocumented workers," said Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Garden Grove). And the evidence says that she is right; that drug money and weapons shipped from the United States to Mexico follow the same routes that illegal aliens follow to get from Mexico to the US. If this is such a large problem in Mexico, perhaps the Mexican government should be willing now to pick up half of the bill for the border fence! Given the evidence, Sanchez and other members of Congress should actually be clamoring to increase funding for border fence construction and patrol. But that’s not happening.
Instead, some of them are leading a charge for a new assault weapons ban. In other words, they believe that helping Mexico is more important than constitutional rights. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) said, "I am appalled that you can buy a 50-caliber sniper weapon anywhere and it's not restricted to a federal firearms dealer - you can just buy it." And Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-San Jose) said, "It was a priority policy decision that tens of thousands of agents would go arrest dishwashers and busboys, meanwhile letting the machine guns get smuggled into Mexico, which has contributed to a very serious problem in Mexico that should concern all Americans."
The hypocrisy of the politicians on both sides of the border is absolutely staggering. Mexico has never lifted a finger to help the United States stem the flow of Mexican illegal aliens entering this country. The end result is that at least 10% of Mexico’s citizens are living in our country illegally. That’s not a small problem, it’s an invasion. There is no other nation on the planet that has been subject to such treatment by a neighboring country except during time of war.
But now Mexico is asking the citizens of this country for their help and they think we should be appalled at the conditions they believe we are responsible for in their country.
More disturbing still is the fact that any members of Congress are willing to listen to this drivel. Feinstein and Lofgren are certainly not the only ones listening. Last week, Nancy Pelosi told a group of illegal immigrants that enforcing our immigration laws is “un-American”. Statements such as these only prove that some members of Congress have divided loyalties and that they have no business claiming to represent the interests of the American people. In particular, if Lofgren believes that the issue has to do with arresting dishwashers, she is simply delusional. It has to do with our nation’s sovereignty and the rule of law. Law which she is constitutionally sworn to uphold and defend; an oath which she has obviously betrayed.
Whether or not you like it though, your tax dollars are going to help Mexico. Congress just agreed to spend $300 Million of American taxpayer money to help the Mexican government deal with the drug cartels. So, while you are waiting for your stimulus check, looking for a job after being laid off, or trying to avoid foreclosure, you can sleep a little easier at night knowing that some poor slob in Mexico may be a little safer thanks to the tax dollars you pay to Uncle Sam.
