The Troubled Asset Relief Program or
TARP, as it is called, is half gone. The Treasury has seen fit to give it to eighty some banks that was supposed to get our
economy going in the right direction. These banks has seen fit to use it for other purposes because the economy is still setting stagnant not helping anyone. The TARP has been used to buy other less unfortunate banks that when under; to make sure that Dividends are paid to stockholders; and funds are available out of non TARP money to do as the banks saw fit.
Now I am just an average guy, and when I hear that something is coming from the TARP fund I have to tell you if I did not keep up with Government I would be just as confused as the average American. Most Americans does not understand how the Government can continue to bail out every business in the country. They hear the words TARP fund and they think tarp; a big vinyl or canvass sheet, used to cover something or a thing used to cover a floor when you’re painting the walls. Most average guys did not realize there was a special fund carried by the Government of the United States.
I have a badly used tarp; it has holes in one corner; the edges are frayed; and the grommets are coming out. Does this mean I might get a new tarp from the fund? The Federal Government is bailing out every institution in the nation, and I need help. Is not this what the Government is for? You might think so since they are helping everyone else. I do not ask for much, but after all they have this fund that was meant to buy tarps, since they are using it for everyone else that must mean there is not enough call to help people with tarps.
If the Government is not in the business of buying tarps, why are they in the business of making decisions about cars; or houses; loans; or insurance? I thought the government was in the business of making Laws. If they are going to do the for mentioned things they just as well be in the tarp business. Doing so will end up helping more Americans on Main Street.
