I leave no trace of wings in the air, but I am glad I have had my flight.
- Rabindranath Tagore

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.
- The Buddha

It was very good, and now it has ended. Does that make this a time for gratitude or regret? Choose to remember the good times and not to regret their passing.

Have no regrets. How much better to have enjoyed the experience, or the person, for a time than to have never experienced that joy. Release both the good times and the bad times. The nature of life is constant change. Celebrate change.

Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
- Winston Churchill

The importance of history is in it's educational value for our lives today, not in regret, resentment, or revenge.

Memories are a very important part of our lives. Where would we be today without memories of our past? We’d just forget every good time we had and every bad time we had and wouldn’t learn from all the past memories.

All those times we sit there and look back on the good times in life, those times where we have had the time of our lives, and we can just sit back, remenis and smile :)

How to get over regrets and resentments

If you aren't in the moment, you are either looking forward to uncertainty, or back to pain and regret.
- Jim Carrey

Regrets and their cousins, resentments, are a huge cause of self-inflicted suffering. Sometimes it takes years of psychotherapy to gain freedom from regrets about what you did or did not do, and freedom from resentment over what others did or did not do. Sometimes it takes a lifetime of self-talk to remember to put the past in the past where it belongs. However, sometimes a simple symbolic act can help immeasurably to grant ourselves freedom from the past.

One of the quickest ways to move past a regret is to hold a RELEASE ceremony. Reverently build a small fire. Write each regret or resentment on a slip of paper. Hold the paper for a moment, and then feed the paper with the regret or resentment to the cleansing fire. Visualize your trouble going up in smoke. Try it, it's amazingly freeing.
