SEO Tips For Your Twitter and Facebook Page To Rank You Higher On Google

TechnologyInternet

Now that Twitter and Facebook fan pages are included in Google search results, I thought I would share with you a few SEO tips to get more SEO push out of your twitter and facebook pages.

These tips apply to both twitter and facebook fan pages and they are simple to do.. and we all like simple..right?  lol

Choose The Best Name and Username

Your name should include one of your keywords, or at least fit your niche. Ex: if you sell dog toys, then choose a name that fits that. twitter, facebook, twitter seo, facebook fan pages,
johnpaulaguiar.com, make money with a blog

You can also add a keyword to your display name too. I don’t do this because it makes it less personal, but if SEO juice is what you want then keyword your name too.

Use A Actual Website URL

With you url in your profile, make sure to use your actual url not a shortened one.  Also remove the “www” since Google only takes your first 20 characters.

Juice Up Your Profile

Your profile is a great place to put your keywords, but again don’t go over board since you want to personalize your profile as much as you can, and you only have 160 char. Keywords will help with search also on twitter makes it easier for people to search and find you.

SEO Your Avatar

This is cool, you can SEO your profile picture! You can’t can rename the photo before you upload it that way when it shows up in the URL it will have the keywords that you named. Make sure to leave NO spaces.

Use Keywords and Hashtags

How to Find UN Documents

World AffairsPolitics & Opinions

This blog post results from the discovery of the following search through Google.ca:  A/64/439/Add.2 (Part II), proj. de rés. XV someone at  the Canada Council for the Arts inquired about a United Nations document.  The  link to the Crusaders Armory blogspot was near the bottom of the first page of results. It is safe to assume that the searcher went through several other results before visiting my blog.

Many, if not most UN documents contain references to other UN documents.  Tracking down those references can be extremely difficult unless you have the right search engine.  Most of the search engine results will be to documents which reference the one you seek, few if any of them will provide a link to the desired document.

United Nations Publications has several interesting categories to check and a search window at the top of the page. That search produced irrelevant results.  It did, however, display a link to  another General Assembly  Document Search. which produced a report declaring that there is no matching document.

Search Evolution – Is Search Evolving Again

TechnologyInternet

social_sitesEvery few years there are some changes in the search market and alter the way not only the way people search, but where they search at and how they search.  This search evolution has taken place several times already and it appears that we are heading for a new one.

Look at the early 90's, when the first engines or search platforms were being produced. At that time, people just looked at categories and then selected links they liked within that space. This was the norm for a couple of years as sites like Yahoo and Excite were first started. These early engines didn't even have a search interface to allow people to type in their own keywords.

The next evolution began when engines provided a chance for people to start typing in their own keywords. This was helpful as people can search for exactly what they wanted and get results based on it. This was good for a while, but people didn't quite know what to type in. These early searches were very broad and usually had only one or two words with it.  It became harder to produce relevant results for these broad based terms so engines got a little smarter.

Search evolution continued in the next phase where engines started making suggestions

Google Pushes out Real Time Search

TechnologyInternet

It was only a matter of time before we heard of the Real Time search on Google. The Search giant has just released its real time search which is integrated into its search results pages. That is quite some news given that there has been a lot to move around with real time.

The best part is this new feature will work on both the Android and the iPhone, plus it will also be releasing Trends out of the Labs. So what exactly are we looking over here? According to Google, there are more than a billion documents that are being indexed. That is a big jump and I bet search is going to move into a very different direction with this. And given that Google has set itself the Light Speed to be the only barrier to be the only thing faster than search, I bet there is quite a lot more coming up from Google.

Google Goggles to Give Search an Eye

image24 Google Goggles to Give Search an Eye

So much for the text based search and with more powerful mobile devices being powered by even more powerful OS the visual search is bound to catch all the flare. Well Google is taking its search to the visual mode as it plans to release the same for its Android powered devices. Users can simply upload a photo and using the app can get relevant information associated to the items, places shown in the picture.

This is to be called the Google Goggles and to be honest it requires a lot of structuring and a massive database. Apparently this would be powered by Google acquired Neven Vision which has been into mobile visual search for quite some time and has quite a lot of patents under its belts for the same. To be honest, Google will do much better, given that it already has Street View that continues to expand far and beyond. Plus it would have the much needed database it requires for the Goggles.

Google has been busy expanding its search in almost every direction available and making it more convenient for people to perform the same. It last year released its app for the iPhone which enabled search by voice. All that expansion into different mediums is only going to have more Google everywhere and more database. I wonder if that would have people complaining more that Google’s searches produce high levels of CO2.

Google Revolutionizes the GPS Market: Introducing Google Maps Navigation

    TechnologyGadgets & Mobile

Google seems to be continually redefining markets time after time just like Apple obliterates the competition with its mind blowing gadgets such as the iPhone, iPod Touch and Magic Mouse. Google has GMail (best mail app out there by far for its continuous innovation), Talk and Maps Navigation (I know there's much more Google has to offer but that's a good summary for now).

Mark this day on your calendar, November 4, 2009, as a day the big navigation providers took a huge hit in their stock price because a lot of people realize that Google Maps Navigation could destroy their business. Sadly it's only offered in the U.S. for now on phones with Android 1.6 or higher but there's a bright end to the tunnel for Canadian consumers. DAVE Wireless, one of the three new wireless companies set to hit the market in the next 6 months, is planning to release Google's phone with Android pre-installed. Now for the features of Google Maps Navigations.

    • Search in plain ‘ol English (watch video). Much like searching on Google Maps, you don't need to know the address of where you are going (unless it's a house and then you may have trouble). All you have to do is type the name of the business (i.e. Best Buy) or the type (i.e. electronics)
    • Search by voice (watch video). This is not a new feature as a Magellan GPS offers it, but now Google Maps Navigation does as well. Just speak your destination such as "Navigate to Air Canada Centre in Toronto"
