Coffee Table with Speaker Legs

The Table of Sound is a coffee table with speakers built right into the legs. Great idea! There's also an integrated iPod dock on the top of the table. This concept, designed by the Wondering Boys put your music right in front of you instead of back against the wall. I think this coffee table would actually be really good not for music but for watching TV or movies to give you more of a realistic surround sound effect by putting the sounds right in front of you and literally surrounding you completely with sound. I'm not sure how these would be powered, or if they would, but you definitely wouldn't want a wire coming from your table. Cool idea, might have some potential, I think.

La Grande Castine Speakers Look Strangely Awesome

Normally when you see modern speakers trying to replicate the old-timey horn speakers, they look like..well they look like they're new speakers trying to look old. Not so much with these La Grande Castine hornspeakers- they have a unique updated styling to the old acoustical classic. Sure they sort of look like a pair of loudspeakers that would be attached to the top of an announcers booth at a high school football field, but hey- they're distinctive. The white paint gives them class.
These $100,000 speakers (someone want to send me a free pair to review? thx) measure nearly 4 feet tall and weigh about 285 pounds. Their large size and acoustic shape allow them to deliver sound in the 108dB range with a mere 3 watt amplifier. Power, grace, and beauty- just like FloJo.

Soundwalk Wearable Speakers

These Soundwalk wearable speakers were spotted by the Ubergizmo team at CEATEC 2009. They are shoulder worn straps, that wrap around you almost like a backpack. The black triangles line up with the top of your shoulders. Apparently it's being marketed as an alternative to wearing earphones. It looks slightly bulky but I could see these being integrated into the straps of an actual backpack for maximum listening pleasure. Cool new product.

A Music Playing Ottoman

Music playing furniture. Michi Jung has created Music Chocolate, an ottoman with integrated speakers. It's an entire sound system, all you need to do is plug in your iPod and the footrest starts singing like a mob informant getting a wedgie (atomic, natch). Worst metaphor ever? Maybe. Well if you thought that didn't make any sense then maybe neither does this ottoman since the sound is aimed at- well actually it's not really aimed at anyone unless you're sitting on the floor. And I think it's a pretty fair assumption that if you own a fine piece of living room furniture like this ottoman, you're not going to be sitting on the floor, you're going to be sitting on your sofa with your feet up.

It's been said that nothing is constant but change. It's all around us. It is the one constant in our personal lives, our families, our businesses, our HAIR?
As I approach the half century mark – I said approach – I have 15 months to go – I started to look at the changes by going through some old photos. Wow – what a difference change makes! In the first photo, I'm 25. My hair is long and flowing, streaked by the sun. With a husband and no kids, I had lots of time to fuss with it, to ‘be glamorous' and playful. Those were the days – what did they call us back then – oh yeah – DINKS. Double Income No Kids!

UFO Mini Speaker is out of this World

Here's a pleasant novelty speaker for your weekend gadget browsing pleasure. It's a little UFO. Now technically a UFO is an Unidentified Flying Object and this little rechargeable speaker is clearly identified and not flying, so that would make it nothing but a big O. False advertising if you ask me. Is it a lawsuit worthy incident? Don't go putting your lawyer on retainer just yet, in my non-lawyery opinion. I'm just saying. It's got a lightning bolt on it, so you know it rides the lightning. I don't know what that means either. This O speaker is just a tad under $14 if you're interested.

Sanwa USB Keyboard with Built in Speakers

Here's an interesting keyboard from Japan's Sanwa, the 400-SKB005 model. This USB keyboard has a blue LED backlight and an integrated set of 1.5W stereo speakers. Now 1.5W is basically like cupping your hands around a pair of earbuds as far as volume goes BUT you have to remember that you're not going to be more than arm's length away from the keyboard while you're listening. It's definitely a space saver if you have limited desktop real estate since most speakers tend to not only be bulky, but they also have a bunch of annoying wires everywhere. This keyboards is available in Japan now for 7980 Yen, which is a bit over $80. Not bad.
