The miracle of childbirth and the Hell that followed

Happy birthday baby! I can't believe you are 36 years old today! Did I ever tell you about the day I gave birth to you ??

It was a beautiful sunny day. I woke up to the sound of birds whistling in the trees. Your father, bless his heart, made me aware that my water had broken; can you believe that?? I wasn't even aware it! We didn't rush to the hospital. We decided to drive slowly and enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way to the hospital. I told your father "can you believe how blessed we are? Here we are, happily married and having a beautiful little baby girl". No, he could not believe it.

It only took 7 1/2 minutes from the time we arrived at the hospital until I was giving birth. It was the most beautiful experience of my life. When the nurse said "you may push now", I closed my eyes and pictured the most beautiful green pastures with little yellow flowers blowing in the wind and the big blue sky with a bright yellow sun shining down on my little family. I was so excited. For 2 seconds I have to bite my teeth together and then I pushed. My little baby caused me no pain ; you just sailed right out of me on the beautiful red ocean of love.

My first anxiety attack

LifestyleHealth, Sports & Fitness

I had my first anxiety attack in my early 20s. I had moved from Denmark to the United Kingdom in pursuit of love and perhaps a little naïve for someone my age, I figured I would uproot myself for while, be happy with this new boyfriend I had not known very long and just settling into my new life for about a year or so - with absolutely no problems.

Looking back I can't believe how ignorant I was and I fully understand the way my parents must have felt. I had never had a boyfriend before, always been a very shy person and I had never lived in a different town from my parents. It was a pretty big move and I had astounded everybody by suddenly going on flights all by myself and doing things I had never done before.

Man with Secrets

The first few weeks were awesome. We had a great time. I got to see all the tourist attractions in London. We took the bus to Bath. We went to Hyde Park

Women at high risk of getting depression

LifestyleHealth, Sports & Fitness

I am one of the many women in this world who suffer from depression. Even as I write this post, I am medicated and feeling somewhat tired. I have struggled with depression since my early 20s and I am now much better at recognizing the symptoms; I get irritated, exhausted and in a foul mood. My depression usually shows up in the autumn and does not go away until springtime. In the meantime, I also have an anxiety disorder to deal with so my plate is full!

Women are twice as likely to suffer from depression than men.

Young girl crying

This tendency crosses over ethnic and cultural divides and I think there is a good explanation for that. Women all across the world have to fill so many roles on a day-to-day basis: they are mothers, wives, lovers, working women, daughters - and somewhere they are also individuals. Life can be quite stressful for a woman who tries to fulfill all these roles and also in many cultures there are great expectations on women to look beautiful, be slim, be a perfect mother. A study has shown that single mothers are at even greater risk than other women, simply because they have little help with childcare and household chores.

Health Talk Fruits for Skin

LifestyleHealth, Sports & Fitness

This fruit is the best bet when it comes to skin care, papaya is a good source of Vitamin A and papain. Vitamin A acts as an anti-oxidant, while the papain breaks down inactive proteins and removes dead skin cells. The best feature of the fruit is its low sodium quality. Since the salt content is less, the water retention is also little. The result is an overall hydrated skin. Rub mashed papaya on cracked heels to remove dead cell and make feet softer.

Draft Profile: Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis came to Rutgers in 2007 and contributed right away. Davis (6″6″, 325 lbs.) played at right guard his freshman year, and was named First-team Freshmen All-American by the Football Writers Association, The Sporting News and Rivals.com.

Davis made the switch to left tackle prior to the 2008 season, and was named First-team All-Big East and Second-team All-American after the 2009 season. On December 22, 2009, Davis announced that he would forgo his senior season at Rutgers and declare for the 2010 NFL Draft.

Davis is a mountain of a man, but is fairly athletic for his size. He has good footwork and balance, and he fires off the line and gets on top of defenders quickly. Davis is a powerful pass blocker and a dominating run blocker. He is very strong, and has a powerful punch and good arm extension. The fact that Davis has experience at both tackle and guard will be a selling point in the minds of many NFL general managers.

Davis does not have great speed and agility, and his ability to block downfield has been called into question. The biggest knock on his game is that his technique is inconsistent, which leaves him susceptible to the double-move at times, and may lead to his having problems with some of the elite speed rushers in the NFL. He has also had some minor weight issues, and was benched on two separate occasions at Rutgers for violating team rules, which may lead some teams to have concerns about his character and work ethic.

Draft Profile: Damian Williams

LifestyleHealth, Sports & Fitness

If you are a diehard Arkansas Razorbacks fan, like my partner here at The Jaguars Journal, Steve, then you probably are not a huge fan of USC wide receiver Damian Williams.

Williams (6′1″, 190 lbs.) was a standout at Springdale High in Springdale, Arkansas. Along with quarterback Mitch Mustain and tight end Ben Cleveland, Williams was part of the “Springdale Trio” that was going to help push Arkansas over the top. Houston Nutt, then the coach at Arkansas, wanted the three players to play for the Razorbacks so badly that he hired their head coach at Springdale, Gus Malzahn, to be the offensive coordinator at Arkansas.

The trio came to Arkansas and contributed right away, but when it became apparent that the Razorbacks’ offense was becoming run-oriented behind Darren McFadden, the Springdale player’s parents went to the school and complained that this was not what their sons were promised. The players asked for, and received, their release from Arkansas, and Gus Malzahn found his way to Tulsa.
