He never really liked social outings although over the phone (and in office), he's jovial and gets along with his colleagues.  He requested for a room of his own.  His door was closed most of the time although you could see him working inside his room.

He loathed meetings although he was too happy to have a colleague pass a post-it note to those who were attending meetings.

To social function invites, he always said, "I would love to go but I can't."   He's good-looking, married once, and no kids.

Why are some people like that?  Anti-social?

One of his colleagues, my friend, spoke to him and she was able to "dig out" his darkest secrets.  The anti-social colleague confided that he suffered from:
• Occasional constipation
• Painful and/or uncomfortable bloating
• Embarrassing flatulence (farts!)

He was suffering from digestive problems and was a victim of prescription antibiotics!  More on Antibiotics' link to allergies

Prescription Antibiotics is NOT the same as the natural antibodies your body makes.  Prescription antibiotics wipe out all gut bacteria — the bad as well as the good!  When antibiotics kill bacteria in the gut , your intestinal walls are exposed to unprocessed foods and irritants.  When this happens, you experience inflammation and a host of digestive irritations like heartburn, diarrhea, unexplained tummy aches and food allergies.

What's more, prolonged use or high doses of antibiotics can cause unfriendly bacteria such as Clostridium difficile, or even pestering yeast (eg. as Candida albicans), to grow and "set up communities" (colonize in the bowels). This can cause health problems such as yeast infections, fatigue and even worse!

The Anti-Social Colleague said,"Doctors and specialists failed to help me.  All they could do was prescribe one 'powerful' drug after another.  I trusted my doctors and took my drugs without hesitation."

Fact:  If you're not pooping one to three times a day, you are in danger of having fecal matter stuck to your intestinal walls.   Having decaying matter in your body is not only "Ewe!" but dangerous to your health!

DIGESTIVE TIPS
  • If you want an alternative NATURAL antibiotic, try oregano oil (from oregano leaves) or evening primrose oil.  There are actually many natural foods from NATURE that aids digestive problems.  Consult a nutritionist (NOT a dietician who's more likely to recommend "fad diets".)
  • If you are feeling bloated, go for freshly-cut papaya or juiced papaya with diluted lemon juice (can prevent bloatedness too).  Enzymes in papaya are "miracle workers"!
  • Reduce intake of white bread because you do not really need a lot of carbohydrates.  And anyway, white bread is bleached with cancer-causing alloxan, and expands in the stomach making you feel even more bloated.
  • Avoid powdered probiotics as these are constantly exposed to air, and are of the lowest quality of probiotics.
  • Be very selective of  "sweetened probiotic drinks/yoghurt".  Some of these sweetned products may have artificial sugar (aspartame) or a mixture of sucrose or sucralose, and probiotics in minute quantities and of low quality.
  • Eat spirulina.  They're good fibre and is a natural probiotic.
You can find natural probiotics in these foods as well:
Pickles (or any fermented vegetables or fermented sauerkraut)
Tempeh (fermented soy beans packed and fried
Bananas
Onions
Garlics
Organic kefir-cultured milk smoothie

And of course, if you are already on a course of prescription antibiotics,  you need a healthy supply of probiotics, some of which may be:
  1. Acidophilus organisms  - fights against harmful bacteria and fungi such as Salmonella, E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus
  2. Bifobacterium Bifidum - fights against liver infections
  3. Lactobacillus rhamnosus - fights against urinary infections
  4. Lactobacillus salivarius - fights against peptic ulcers
  5. Bifobacterium longum - helps to keep the body ph balance to slightly alkaline - this is also important in prevention of cancer and cancer cells actually thrives in acidic  environments
  6. Lactobacillus casei  - guards against food contamination as it wraps around the contaminated food
  7. Lactobacillus plantarum - essential for protecting key nutrients and short-chain fatty acids
  8. Streptococcus thermophilus  - seeks out dangerous free-radicals and kills them!

We actually need more than 400 kinds of pro-biotics!  With good safe bacteria in your gut, any cuts or gaps in the lining of your bowels (caused by toxins and poor eating habits) will have a chance of mending themselves, instead of possible mutation to cancerous tumours.

If someone you know is anti-social (not by "nature"), have a good talk with him/her.  Digestive problems may be making him/her anti-social.

P.S.  I have not looked into cholesterol-lowering probiotics that converts cholesterol into a less absorbable form (believed to lower chances of heart disease) but you can do your own research into this to see if any homeopathic or holistic doctors recommend it.

Thank you for posting on the relationship between antibiotics and anti-social behavior, and for pointing out that we may also "need a healthy supply of pro-biotics."

P.S. I realise Cory meant "Organic Search Listing" and has nothing to do with "Organic Foods listing". But I do agree, that Wikipedia is getting too many first few pages listings for keywords "organically"! Or may be I am just jealous! lol
