Delhi is the capital city of India which is located on the banks of the River Yamuna and is considered to be the  country's third largest city by area. Being one of the most historic capitals in the world, it houses many tourist sites. It also serves as the seat of Government of India and houses with many offices of federal government, including the Parliament of India.

@ Delhi,  here are some of the places where food lovers must have a bite.

Paratha Waali gali ('gali' is a Hindi word which means street and 'Paratha Wali gali' means the street which sells parthas - an Indian food delicay)
situated in Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi is considered to be the food lovers paradise which serves  hot hot Paratas. This food destination is more than 100 yrs old where one can relish the delicious taste of more than 25 different varieties of spicy & freshly prepared Parathas. Tourists and food lovers from different parts of the world come here daily to have the taste of the different varities of Parathas.

The different varieties of Parathas include:  aloo gobi and matar (potato, cauliflower and peas) ones, Kaju, Badam (Almonds), Tamatar (Tomato), Pudhina (Mint), and Mix Paranthas etc., These Parathas are
fried in pure ghee in cast-iron kadhais and are served steaming hot with a mind boggling variety of chutneys, vegetable pickles and raitas.

From all the varieties that are served, the Mix Paratha is something to look out for. It is stuffed with a little bit of everything, from aloo, gobi, matar, tomato and paneer to cashew, almonds, pista, radish and papad (a fried accompaniment to traditional meals,  a little like chips).

So next time when you visit Delhi, this is the foodies destination you should never dream of missing.

For those of you with a sweet tooth, hot Jalebis at Delhi's Old Famous Jalebi Wala in Chandni Chowk's Dariba Nukkad is the right place. From almost a century it is famous for hot, soft and juicy jelebis. Prepared in pure ghee, the smell of these sweet morsels wafting in the air brings in customers in droves.

Kailash Chand Jain, the present proprietor of the shop challenges that no one can make jalebis as tasty as theirs all over India. His jalebis are also famous in countries like U.K., U.S.A., Canada, Australia, Germany and even Pakistan.

So, if you are a person who believes in good eating, hasn't visited the Old Famous Jalebi Wala, you certaily wasted your trip to Delhi not savouring the juicy jalebis.

Delhi is also famous for Milkshakes and Sandwich, particularly at 'Jain Coffee House'  located in the corner of a small clearing approached from the Chawri Bazaar road you can taste different types of  sandwich ranging from 
sandwiches filled with fruits, standard paneer-tomato-cucumber combo, an apple sandwich, pomegranate (anaar) sandwich, mango sandwiches (specially prepared in summer), malaai (cream) sandwich etc., These Sandwich has a peculiar delicious taste with the  masala adding just that right sour touch to the sweetness of the bread and fruits.  It would also be good to try out their cold coffee and fruit milk shakes.

Delhi also houses the World famous Kashmiri hotels where you can taste various varieties of Indian spicy non-veg items.

If I ever travel to Delhi, I'll be sure to try Old Famous Jalebi Wala. I think the readers in Food and Drink would have enjoyed this post as well. Yummy!
