Best Times To Visit Brazil

By Shon*Starr of BrazilGeeks.com

The best time to visit Brazil really depends on what your travel goals are and how much money you want to spend. Prices are a lot more expense during high season and you will always pay a premium during big holidays like New Years Eve and Carnaval. Keep in mind that you will have to book way ahead of time because rooms and flights usually sell out. New Year’s and Carnaval (in Feb.) are great times to visit Brazil. Brazilians are generally always in a fun festive mood, but they really let go during the NYE and Carnaval celebrations, especially since many of them take their summer vacations around this time.

Brazil during low season though definitely has its benefits including cheaper prices, less crowded beaches, and a more laid back experience. So you really just have to figure out what kind of experience you want from your trip. There are times when I have traveled to Brazil and just didn’t want to deal with all the busyness of high season and appreciated a nice laid back chill time. September, October, and the beginning of November are good normal times to visit Brazil. Prices are cheaper and the weather is usually good.

Brazil’s seasons are pretty much the opposite of our seasons here in the United States. Summer or “High Season” is from December to March and Winter “Low Season” is June till September.  The weather and climate in Brazil really depends on what part of the country you’re in. The summers are pretty hot in most parts of Brazil though. The temperatures can reach up to 110º (43ºC) in some areas. In Rio de Janeiro the summers are hot and humid with temperatures in the 90s. Rio’s winters are pretty mild. During the day it’s usually in the 80s and cools down at night to around 70º.

The thing I really love about this country is that whether you go summer or winter, high season or low season, Rio or Salvador - Brazil is one of those amazing places that you will have a good time whenever and wherever you go. The fun never stops and the beauty never goes away in Brazil.
