"Do you trust your life and safety in the hands of your health authorities?" Most people will not hesitate to answer YES. I recall, as a child, a small voice inside me has always asked,"How do we know what goes into our medicine?" 20 years later, I decide to attempt answering this question! (Disclaimer: All facts provided in this blog entry are easily available on the internet. As such I am not liable for any thing you decide out of reading this article. There are many people who need to be credited for this article - I apologise if I did not mention those people for the sake of brevity for this article!)
Here are 3 of the world's Greatest Health Myths busted: 1. Artificial sugars like Nutrasweet/Splendor are good for diabetics. MYTH!! There is nothing natural in Nutrasweet! It is indeed artificial sugar. Splendor (aka Splenda) a variation of Nutrasweet is actually chemical chlorine. Clinical trials show that Aspartame is able to neutralise all nutrients of the last meal you ate. And more! Perhaps Mrs. Victoria Innes-Brown, a private citizen of the USA, gave one of the most compelling evidence of Aspartame when she did an experiment feeding 2 groups of rats - one with Aspartame and the other without. Senator Gerald Ortiz y Pino (New Mexico State Senator) once wrote to the ex-Acting Commissioner of FDA, a Dr. Frank Torti, to pull all artificial aspartame from supermarket shelves. |
