Cufflinks That Are Also Mini-Lighters

How James Bond is this vintage item? These cufflinks are actual working mini-lighters. They are refillable with fluid from the bottom. Believe it or not, these lighters used to come in a bubble gum vending machine as a prize about 50 years ago! How suave would you be at a cocktail party, just lighting the cigarette of a female vixen right smoothly from your cuff instead of having to dig around for a lighter in your pocket? Plus if your hands up ended up tied up with ropes, scarves or plastic cuffs (after having a lovely tryst with the female companion you just picked up at the bar thanks to your cufflink trick), you could burn your way out to freedom. Very useful.
Unfortunately these vintage cufflinks were a one of a kind item that sold out, but here's an eBay search for cufflink lighters in case something turns up.

Old Giant Cell Phone Modded into a Working PC

Great mod! A crafty fella took a ridiculously old giant Miami Vice Zach Morris style phone and crammed a tiny working PC into there to use as a media center. It only makes sense that at some point the decreasing size of today's computers caught up with the size of the giant cases size of those original cell phones.
Inside this Mobira Talkman cell phone (nope, never heard of it either) is a full computer complete with USB hub, WiFi and sound cards and a 128x128 OLED screen where the handset screen originally was. It's one of those vintage mobile phones that require two separate parts to function, the giant handset and the handbag sized case. Cool mod that only took 40 hours to complete.

she murmured, "glimpses", 2009. Reclaimed window frame, vintage lace fragments, gold thread, nails, rope. Not the best photograph, found it a tricky one to capture well. Would be better to get a photo when it is properly installed somewhere but husband wasn't too keen on me attaching two large hooks to the ceiling just so I could suspend my window nicely! |
